Thou Shall Not Kill

Chapter 3

I immediately opened my eyes as my alarm rings.

Today is Friday, I have an 8am class. Napapaisip na nga ako minsan kung kelangan ko pa bang pumasok sa subject na'to dahil feel ko hindi ko ito deserve, hehe. My first class is Theology, so I readied myself and went to school.

When I arrived, kaagad akong umupo sa pinakadulong upuan na malapit sa aircon, my usual spot. Hindi ko kaklase si VJ dahil nakuha na niya ito when he was still in Grade 11. He started going here when he entered Senior High School, while I finish my last two years in high school at a public school.

I was supposed to finish my senior high at a state university, but that event happened which prevents me to go there.

"Good morning class." Our professor greeted as she entered our premise. Yawa, gusto kong matulog.

"Good morning Sister." Our professor is a nun. Madre, sis. Kahit mamamatay tao ako eh may konsensya pa naman ako para makinig sa kanya, given the fact na mabait at magaling siyang magturo.

So kesa matulog, nakinig na lang ako. Maybe I will just stay at the library after I eat, and sleep. I barely have 3 hours of sleep. Bakit ako nagpuyat? Nag-aral? No. I was thinking about my conversation with Lachlan. That guy really is stubborn, iniisip ko palang kung ano ang magiging reaksiyon niya kapag nalaman niya ang mga ginagawa ko ay parang nauurong lahat ng plano ko. I don't want him to be involved in any of my doings, or should I say my crimes.

Maybe I have feelings? But that is just beyond my grasp right now, and besides I've never had a boyfriend so I can't contemplate this feeling. Siguro hahanap nalang ako nang paraan para hindi niya malaman, na pinaplano kong pumatay nang limang tao. Apat nalang pala, dahil patay na ang isa.

"Miss Forte, are you listening to me?" Our professor called me, making me stop to what I am thinking right now.

"I'm sorry, Sister. I was not able to catch up. What is that again?" I apologized while standing up.

"I'm asking if you know what is the sixth commandment that God gave from Mount Sinai?" Pucha? Bakit sa'kin pa ito napunta?

"T-thou shall not k-kill, Sister." I can feel my knees wobbling. I can't curse in this class. God, I'm so sorry.

"Yes! Thou shall not kill. Whether in the Bible or in the law, killing is such a grave sin. Sa'ting bansa, kapag pumatay ka, you will be convicted with murder. But for some countries, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Meaning, kapag pumatay ka, papatayin ka rin. You may sit Miss Forte and stop sulking in my class. I noticed you since the first day."
