Jennifer let Evan in, knowing it was him just by his unnecessary humor.
Jennifer: "Hey. What are you doing here?"
Evan: "I came to check up on you. You know, to make sure you're not losing your mind or anything."
Jennifer: "Oh, well thanks."
Evan: (he gave her the wine as he made his way to the kitchen) "I bought you something just in case."
Jennifer: (smiling) " ... You do know I'm pregnant, right?"
Evan: "It's for your parents. If I were you, I'd slip a little something in there so they could chill out until you're ready to send them home." (looking around the house) "Speaking of your parents, where are they?"
Jennifer: "They left."
Evan: "What? When?"
Jennifer: "Last night."
Evan: "I thought they were supposed to be here until Christmas?"
Jennifer: "They were, but things took a turn for the worst and ... let's just say they hate me more than they did before, so bottoms up." (she said as she made him a drink)
Evan: (rejecting it) "No thanks. I might've already slipped something in there in case you pussied out."
Jennifer: "You were gonna drug my parents?"
Evan: "It wouldn't have killed them." (he said, nonchalantly)
Jennifer put the bottle to the side, then sat at one of the chairs by the kitchen island as he continued;
Evan: "Did they leave because of Elle?"
Jennifer: (flashing him a straight face) "No. I mean, he was part of it but not entirely."
Evan: (leaning on the counter; sincerely) "You can talk to me. Just tell me what's going on."
Jennifer: (sighs) "It's just- ... they know."
Evan: "About what?" (he asked, nervously)
Jennifer: "About Maple."
Evan: (he sighs in relief) "Oh, good."
Realizing this wasn't exactly supposed to be good news, he quickly cleared his throat and corrected himself.
Evan: "Sorry, I just - I thought they found out about something else. You know, cause they look like they'd go straight to the police about the shit we do and... I mean, who wouldn't but..." (realizing she didn't care) "Never mind. So, ... how'd they take it?"
Jennifer: "They screamed at me for a while."
Evan: "Wait, do they know how she died?"
Jennifer: (shaking her head, feeling guilty for not telling them) "If I told them how she really died, then it would just trace back to the two of you so I told them it was someone she sent to prison a while ago. That they threatened me too, so Elle moved us to Jersey to get away from him."
Evan: "And they believed that?"
Jennifer: "My mom did. My dad swore it was because of Elle and his businesses, but my mom basically dragged him away trying to convince him that he's stretching it more than he should."
