I'm watching as Clarke is arriving at our campfire. Lincoln brought her here, but she doesn't know that yet. When she's over the confusion as to why the grounder cut the ropes and let her free, she looks in my direction. "Storm?" She asks with wide eyes, clearly expecting me to be dead.
A smile forms on my face at her dumbfounded expression. "Clarke."
I quickly run to her, while she meets me halfway. I honestly can't remember hugging her like this. We've always been in this Cold War kind of thing. I just never realized how I missed out on having my sister.
I never realized how much I love her either. Something I'm sure to remind her and myself of. "I love you." I tell her, not letting go.
She tenses for a second, because it really isn't something I'd say to her under normal circumstances. "Love you too."
When she eventually lets go, she still looks confused. "I don't understand. How-?"
I spin her around so she's facing Lincoln, who takes off his mask. "Lincoln saved my life." I tell her. "He killed one of his own people to do it."
"The signal fire? That was you?" Clarke asks, coming closer to him.
"We needed a distraction." He replies.
"I guess it worked." I say, seeing how someone puts out the fire in the distance.
"Not well enough."
"What's it mean?" I ask.
"It means Anya knows Clarke's not dead. We need to hury."
I take the beginning of a new bow I was working on while waiting for Clarke, and get ready to leave immedietly. I see Lincoln kick the horse so it'll run away, hoping they'll follow it.
"Hey, what do we do now?" Clarke asks.
"Now we run." Lincoln replies, while he and I are already running away. Clarke quickly follows.
"Come on, it's right up here." Lincoln says after running for a while.
"What is?" I ask.
"Someplace they won't follow."
He shows us the tunnels, tunnels I remember from his drawings. "Wait, where does it lead?" Clarke asks.
"Everywhere." I say in unison with Lincoln.
He's the one to elaborate though. "There's a tunnel near your camp. If we make it through, we'll get there before Tristan."
When we hear horses approach, he shouts: "Go! Go!"
We do so, but then I realise Lincoln isn't with us. I frown and turn back, ignoring Clarke's protests and her annoying mom-tone.
When I get to the end of the tunnel, I see Lincoln in a fighting stance. I roll my eyes and clear my throat to get his attention.
He turns to me with wide eyes. "I told you to go."
"I will if you come with me."
"Skaikrasha!"
He doesn't often say my name in Trigedasleng, so he's catching me slightly off guard. But I don't budge. "I mean it."
The lights of the grounders come closer, my sister is pulling on my arm, and Lincoln's still making up his mind.
Fortunatly, he eventually sighs and comes with me.
---
Lincoln is lighting a fire, while Clarke is still looking over her shoulder. "So why didn't they just follow us?"
