Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians or The Heroes of Olympus. Uncle Rick does.

Most people my age are busy working to get their degree in college or busy grinding at their first full time job. Most of them probably think their lives are quite hectic. While it may be true that they have it difficult, it doesn't quite compare to the life of a demigod.

Most demigods believe that life can't really get any harder than their own. While it may be true that their lives are hard and dangerous, it doesn't quite compare to mine.

I am a demigod, sure, but I'm also a legacy. That's not much worse, right?

Wrong.

See I'm not just a demigod and a legacy, but a demigod of one pantheon, the Aztec pantheon, and a legacy of another pantheon, the Olympian pantheon.

Not only that, but I have a busy mortal life and a much busier military life to juggle along with that. I'm sure it must be confusing how so many things must have aligned for me to be in this situation. Well, it all started with my father.

My father was one of the rare demigods that survived into adulthood. He even went on to go to college and graduated from med school. When he graduated med school, his graduating class took a trip to Mexico to celebrate. They went to Puerto Vallarta, and on their last week there they went to a club to have a couple of drinks. They'd started playing truth or dare after a couple of tequila shots. Eventually my dad was dared to speak to a lady sitting by herself at the clubs bar. Well, the young women he was dared to speak to happens to be my mom. They began to chit chat, apparently my dad did his best to translate his English pick-up lines before he realized that my mom was fluent in English. From what she's told me, it was quite amusing and the only reason why she even gave him a chance.

Luckily, my mother found my dad funny and thanks to that he was able to get her info. The very next day they set up a coffee date, which was the start of a strong and growing friendship that later developed into a relationship once my father decided that he was going to move to Mexico since he fell in love with the country, and particularly with one of its inhabitants. Eventually, my dad got his shit together and proposed to my mom, mainly cause it took him a while to learn Spanish properly. Obviously my mom accepted, otherwise I would be here, then the honeymoon came, which led to my existence.

My dad didn't actually know that my mom was a goddess until shortly before they got married. From what I've been told, it wasn't that hard to believe considering that he was already used to the mythological world. The reason why my father had not realized that my mother was a goddess is due to one distinct difference between the two different pantheons. Whilst Greek and Roman gods have immortal bodies that inhabit their spirit, Aztec gods cannot emerge in the mortal realm without having sever consequences to their surroundings. Instead they house their immortal souls in mortal bodies. Now, the process is quite complicated and a sacrifice is required. Of course, these days the Aztec gods, or at least most of them have strayed from the old ways and instead rely on donors, meaning recently deceased. Because they are in mortal bodies, they can be killed and banished until they can be placed into another mortal body, and the bodies that they do have are limited by their aging.

All of that led to now, which is me working as an intern at my dad's clinic. I was on desk duty, which means that I have to sign in patients as they walk in, direct them in the right direction, and sign them out once they are done.

I looked down at my watch and found that I had three minutes left before my shift was over. My cousin, Alex, had yet to show up for his shift, as per usual. I began to pack up my things regardless. Once I had all my things ready to go it was already two minutes past my shift and Alex still hadn't showed up. I began to log off from the clinics patient record systems and from the computer, slowly, as to give him time to make his way here.
