𝙄𝙉 this unit we will discuss the basics and essential of beginning the process of writing your book.

We will make sure you understand writing, and the how to make sure your books are clear and concise.

Many times when reading here on Wattpad, we come across situations such as :

❍ 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 [ ☓ ]
↳ 𝗃𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝗋𝖾𝖺𝖽 𝗂𝗍, 𝗋𝖾𝖺𝖽 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝗆𝗈𝗋𝖾, 𝖾𝗍𝖼.

❍ 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 [ ☓ ]

𝗅𝖺𝗒𝗅𝖺 : 𝗇𝗈𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗆𝗎𝖼𝗁, 𝗐𝗁𝗒?

❍ 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 [ ☓ ]
↳ 𝗆𝖾 : 𝗐𝗒𝖽 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗌 𝗐𝖾𝖾𝗄𝖾𝗇𝖽"
𝗅𝖺𝗒𝗅𝖺 : "𝗂𝖽𝗄 𝗐𝗁𝗒?"

𝙉𝙊𝙒, of course you are allowed to write your book as you please. However, when looking at some of the more popular book or legitimate published books, we do not see things like these.

Let's look at how you could correct or improve the examples :

❍ 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 [ ✓ ]
↳ 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝖼𝗈𝗎𝗅𝖽 𝖽𝗈 𝗌𝗈𝗇𝗀 𝗅𝗒𝗋𝗂𝖼𝗌, 𝖺 𝗊𝗈𝗎𝗍𝖾 𝖿𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝗈𝗇𝖾 𝗈𝖿 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗆𝖺𝗂𝗇 𝖼𝗁𝖺𝗋𝖺𝖼𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗌, 𝖾𝗍𝖼

❍ 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 [ ✓ ]

❍ 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙚 &' 𝙌𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 [ ✓ ]
↳ 𝖨 𝗅𝗈𝗈𝗄𝖾𝖽 𝖺𝗍 𝖫𝖺𝗒𝗅𝖺, "𝖶𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖺𝗋𝖾 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗉𝗅𝖺𝗇𝗌 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗌 𝗐𝖾𝖾𝗄𝖾𝗇𝖽?"

❍ 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 [ ✓ ]
↳ "𝖶𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖺𝗋𝖾 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝖽𝗈𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗌 𝗐𝖾𝖾𝗄𝖾𝗇𝖽?"
"𝖨 𝖺𝗆 𝗇𝗈𝗍 𝗌𝗎𝗋𝖾, 𝗐𝗁𝗒 𝖽𝗈 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝖺𝗌𝗄?"

𝙇𝙀𝙏'𝙎 look at each section piece by piece and explain why it is either right or wrong. There will be upcoming lessons on each section, so this won't be too in depth.

❍ 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨
↳ Now there is nothing wrong with putting "just read it" in the description of your books, we can see that from the books with thousands of reads with that description (👀).
However, it can turn a lot of people away from your book, as it's not much to base what your book is about - except, for maybe the title.

❍ 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨
↳ I will go deeper into this when we get to it's separate lesson.
However, the beginning of your book should draw your reader in, and from my personal experience, I can not stay interested or move onto the next chapter when the beginning is along the lines of, "Hello my name is ..."

❍ 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙚 &' 𝙌𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 [ ✓ ]
↳ Personally, I hate reading books with screenplay style dialogue. When you look at a professional written book you do not see the author writing the characters as if it is a screenplay - you shouldn't either !

❍ 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 [ ✓ ]
↳ This is should be self explanatory. Do not use texting style writing in your book. So many people do not enjoy reading books like that, including me. It is just off putting and not the greatest to look at!
