    ~Fifteen years ago~

The room echoed with music and voices of the nine lands' higher society. The men and women that ruled the lands. I roamed through the room, looking for my father. As I walked towards the other side of the room, watching the dazzling guests, my fathers' most trusted and loyal guard, Ulric escorted me around the room. I noticed the kings and queens near where my father's throne sat and I saw him next to a darker man talking to him. He had a red suit of armor and a long curved sword with a black and red handle to match the suit of armor he wore.. The man stood tall, long black hair draping down his back. He spoke to my father but his eyes gazed around the room, watching closely at the surrounding guests. Any time someone would approach his vicinity he would lightly grip the handle of his sword as if they were his enemies. I couldn't help but stare at the sword, wishing to hold it. I shook my head, my thoughts vanishing as I ran to my father. I tugged on his sleeve, staring up at him, trying to gain his attention. He continued to speak to the man with the sword and I began to grow impatient and angry as a frown had grown upon my face. After a few seconds,  while I continued to tug, he stopped speaking and looked down at me, confused. "Can I have cake, father? Please and thank you?" My small squeaky voice had let out as my frown vanished and a smile burst upon my face. He looked down at me and smiled, patting the top of my head. I shook my head quickly and stepped backward, bumping into a tall, long-haired woman. She had a green dress on and a crown with four diamonds surrounding a huge ruby. She stepped backward and gently set me forward, smiling. "Be careful, little one." She let out. I opened my mouth to speak but before I could my father spoke. "He's very sorry, Carantina." The tall woman softly chuckled, positioning her hair behind her ear. "I am the one who is sorry, Ailwin. I shouldn't have been in his way." She nodded to my father while speaking. "Thank you. We'll have to catch up later, Carantina but I have to deal with a few things. If you'll excuse me." He informed her. I grabbed his sleeve once again and began tugging. "You must wait, Albus. We eat cake when the party has died down my boy, take Ulric and go play with Tybalt." He pulled his arm away from me and fixed his sleeve. He looked at Ulric and signaled across the room for him to take me away.

                           ~Ulric~

I sighed after letting out a soft whine, looking at Ulric. "Who was that guy my dad was talking to the one with the red armor?" I questioned him as he led me towards the other side of the room where his son, Tybalt was standing with his wooden sword. "He is Don Jeru, the king of Stophlet. He's one of our strongest allies and one of your dad's oldest friends. They grew u-" As Ulric was speaking the doors to the ballroom slammed open, interrupting him and a man floated into the room, causing pure silence as everyone focused their gazes towards him. I've never seen the man before but I couldn't help but feel scared and worried. "AILWIN!" His roaring deep voice zoomed throughout the room. His red and black suit had green flames flowing through the stitching. I had no idea who he was or why he was screaming at my father. I was scared but tempted to know more. I climbed onto one of the tables to watch as everyone in the room moved to make way to the king, as the floating man soared towards him. Ailwin quickly turned towards the man and drew his sword from his sheath anger flowed through his body as the kingsguard surrounded him. "Guards! Seize this man." He yelled at his guards. All of the people in the room began to back away as knights surrounded the floating man their swords and shields drawn. Four of the kingsguard immediately surrounded the table I was on and Ulric ran to the king, his sword ready. One of the guards picked me up off of the table and started to escort me towards my father. I was so confused why my father got so tense and I had so many questions. The floating man raised his hands and flicked his fingers, blasting away the guards, green flames igniting the guards on fire. Their screams echoed through the room as the fire extinguished itself as the guards died. "Samael, what do you want. You have ruined my party and scared my guests." My father's angry voice growled at the man. Samael's hand pointed towards my father and his fingers slowly tightened, choking him. He lifted into the air and reached for his throat, straining. More guards flowed into the room and rushed towards, Samael, beginning to attack him. His hand unclenched and he flicked his arms to the sides, waving each of his fingers. My father dropped to the ground and Ulric quickly helped him up. The swords from all of the guards approaching Samael flew into the air and sliced their throats. As they fell blood oozed out of the wounds and fear burst through my body. "Enough!" My father yelled in a raspy voice, holding his throat. "Ulric take my son out of here and have your men escort my guest out of the castle. This is between me and him." He commanded. Walking towards Samael. I was so scared I didn't know what to do but follow my father's guards. "But Lord, he could kill you." Ulfric had warned, worried for the king. My father placed his hand on Ulfric's shoulder and nodded to him. "Please my brother. Do this for me. Protect Albus at all costs." Ulric kneeled to the king and then stood before making his way to me.  "Wait! No please don't leave my father!" I yelled at Ulric while he escorted me to the catacombs. My father threw Samael a sword and they began to fight. Samael moved quicker, stronger, and better than my father, killing his guards and slicing my father's leg. He dropped to the floor and as Ulric pulled me out of the room Samael slid his sword into my father's throat and pulled it back out. His body dropped to the floor and tears burst from my eyes as I screamed through the hallways, Ulric carrying me.
