20. friendly date

Jake's POV

"A what??" I almost shouted on the middle of the street at night. Is she crazy? A date? No way. Jia just gulped in embarrassment. "No not d-date, I mean a friendly one." Oh. My shocked face changed to its normal one as she specified herself. She meant a friendly outing while me here thinking she developed feelings for me. Hope not.

"Fine." It didn't sound that bad. Might be fun since I hardly roamed around with her. My face showed a small smile as I saw the girl jump in excitement after hearing my answer. Cute. Whatever, I shrugged the weird thoughts away and started walking to the house again as Jia followed me. "Let's go to the dog's cafe." She said out from the back as my smile grew bigger. But I hid it with the straight face I owned.

"Sure."

Jia's POV

I got up early even though it was a weekend but thing is, I'll be going out with Jake for the first time today. I mean we did before but it was different this time. We'd be going to a dog's cafe since Jake had told me he preferred dog. Wearing a cute floral shirt with a white cardigan on top, I finished my outfit pairing it with white jeans. The weather was perfect and gladly it wasn't snowing that day.

Walking downstairs I saw Jake all ready with his black sunglasses on. I sighed thinking he wouldn't be able to go anywhere without hiding his eyes. But I was with him so nothing would possibly go wrong. Making my way towards him, I swiftly took off his glasses to which he just flinched widening his eyes. "What the hell? Give it back." He tried to take it back but I wouldn't give up.

I help his shoulders stopping him from moving and made him look at me. "You do know my touch is much more powerful than you think?" With a smirk on my face, I eyed his handsome face as he finally gave in nodding a bit. "Guess so." I giggled at his answer. All ready for our small friendly date we set in our journey to the dog's cafe in Jake's car.

"Come on quick!" I excitedly said as Jake lazily came out of the car. Waving my hand at the cafe I pulled Jake to speed up and finally entered the place. The first thing I saw entering were dogs. All dogs. Of every breed you knew. My heart leaped in joy seeing the little beings excitedly jump around me. I looked at Jake who seemed to get lost at the sight of dogs. His soft smile made me smile even more thinking I chose the right venue.

"Hello welcome to Seungi dog cafe." A guy older than Jake appeared. Seemed like he was the owner of the place. I smiled sweetly at him while he did the same flashing his white teeth. "Stop with the formalities Heeseung hyung." Jake said out before the Heeseung dude chuckled finally bringing Jake to a hug. Jake seemed hesitant but just let the older boy to hug me.

So they already know each other. Great I guess. Atleast I still have the dogs to play around in case they leave me out. "And you are?" The owner asked me raising his eyebrows. "Jia. Im Jia." I bowed shaking his hand while he did the same. "You're the first person Jake brought here and that too after a long time." So Jake used to come here before. Guess it wasn't me who actually chose the venue but him.

Heeseung showed us inside the place revealing more adorable dogs as I played around with them. But Jake seemed to not get that attached to the other dogs and just stood there. "What happened?" I asked him a bit worried about what was disturbing him. "Here you go Jake." Heeseung came out of his office followed by a fluffy dog.

Jake's smile grew bigger than ever as the dog immediately approached him. The boy crouched down to the excited dog's level which was licking him. "Hey Layla." His aussie accent left from his mouth as he patted the dog's fur. They looked close. I just stared at him completely changing himself in front of the animal. Animals sure can be very important to people.

The two cuddled up with each other as if they hadn't met for a while now. My eyes softened seeing Jake so happy. Who knew he had this soft spot for the golden retriever. I pouted seeing the two so relaxed with each other. Hoping that Jake could be like that with me as well I stared at him until he noticed me causing me to blink slightly. "She's my pet Layla." He introduced me to his family while the friendly dog enjoyed my caressings.

I left the two to spend time with each other making my way towards Heeseung while holding a small puppy. "Mind telling me about the couple there?" He chuckled at me before nodding. "You can already say they are everything to each other. Layla used to stay with Jake but Jake sent her here cuz he was worried he'd hurt his little friend." Heeseung's voice softened at the end as I felt the slight hint of sadness audible in his tone.

I didn't reply anything and just eyed Jake. He was happy. Very happy. Probably the happiest I've ever seen him. "Layla wait. Wait." He commanded the cute animal who obediently listened to her master and stopped herself from eating the treats. "Eat. Good girl." Jake cheerfully said out ruffling his pet's hair while chuckling. "I wish he would believe that he would never hurt her."

Heeseung looked down sadly thinking the two had to seperate again due to Jake's stubborn behavior. I never left my stare at Jake. His eyes lit up in happiness. Indeed he'd never hurt her. Who knew someone who wasn't a human could make the short tempered boy so soft and happy. "Jia come on." The said boy shouted from the other side of the room as I approached them happily. Playing around with him and the dogs was, I must say, one of the best things I did.

It felt so pure. Jake was so innocent. He could and would never hurt anyone but fate never stopped being a bitch. My heart felt like it was blooming with the entire surrounding. It was at peace, after a long time. The room was filled with out laughter, Jake's laughter more to be honest. His face radiated happiness, something I hardly saw in him.

My heart felt different. It was happy but in a different way. Couldn't really figure what it was feeling but it was different and cheerful. Something I never felt. I touched the place where my heart was and felt it beating rapidly before I looked again at Jake. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"What is this feeling?"
