At Y/N's house
"I'm back" I said as I walked in the room. "Finally! What took you so long?!" . Y/n pouted at me with the most annoyed look ever. "I was just talking to Aether and Paimon. I didn't even take that long. Anyways, here's your food." . I handed Y/N their food and sat down next to them. All I could think about is what Paimon said. She was right. Y/n is my best friend, I can't hide this from them. "Hello?? Earth to Venti!" . Y/n waved their hand in my face with got me surprised. Did I blank out? "Ah- sorry. I was just.. thinking." I said nervously smiling. "Oh. Venti can you hum me a tune again? I feel sleepy." Y/n said as they got comfortable. I sigh and get the Lyre. I start playing a tune that would keep Y/n calm. When I finished the tune, as I expected Y/n was fast asleep. I smiled and leaned against the wall, falling asleep with them.
Everyday, I came over to Y/n's house to care for them since they couldn't get out of bed. But the sickness didn't get better. It got worse. It got so bad that one day we had to take them to the hospital.
"Venti?"
"Yes, Y/n?"
"When do you think I'll get better?"
Y/N knew they weren't going to get better. How could they stay so positive? Whenever I'm around they try staying as happy as possible. But why?
I hummed a song and played on my lyre for Y/N . The song was a very special song to Y/n. It's a tale of forbidden love. "Bravo!" Y/n said as they clapped for me. I smiled at them. "As soon as I get out, We can make a song together! Our very own." Y/n said with a confident expression. "Venti? May I speak to you in private please?" A doctor called. "Ah, yes." . I stood up and walked out of the room. "Yes, doctor? What do you need?" I asked. "Sorry to disturb but what is Y/n to you? A family member or?.." . "Y/n is my best friend. We known each other for 3 years." I said. "Why?" . "Well you see.. Y/n has.. lung cancer."
"...lung cancer?"
