*cough* Ahem, it is my pleasure to announce that...
Okay, fine. I'll stop being stuffy about it. XD @Paintfairy agreed to do a collab with me!!! If y'all haven't checked out her graphics, DO IT. You have no idea what you're missing out on.
Anyways, back to the collab. We'd been chatting on each other's discord and I sent her a picture of a girl in a mask which I thought was cool. She liked it too and I thought: "Why not use it to make a cover together?"
She agreed and, as they say, the rest is history :D We didn't end up using that picture but the initial idea stayed the same. The cover revolves around a wintery realm and a retelling of swan lake. Ours is a bit darker than the original: Odette must kill the prince in order to become human. PLOT TWIST!
For my part, which was the base, I spent a LOT of time on Pinterest (as usual) and stumbled across this picture of a picture frame on a velvet-covered staircase. I was going to put the woman in the mask in the frame and then create a wintery landscape that would bleed into the frame...
...except that when I blew the picture up the quality was terrible so that idea went out the window. Literally (get it? I have a pc and deleted the file... nvm that was cheesy).
The mirror came from the picture frame idea and the plants and snowflakes were a happy accident. I was actually trying to make the mirror look frosted. The paper swans up top are perfect substitutes for real ones because the real ones were NOT working for me XD. Side note: I am kinda super proud of my head swap ^^
Paintfairy then took over and ironed out all my mistakes. She glowed up the whole cover, fixed the swirls in the mirror, and added the gorgeous text. Did I mention that I am in love with all the shades she chose and the blending????!!!! For more details about her finish, please DO check out her post in her graphics shop! :D
