Last Resort

Ginny was sitting in the corner of the common room thinking of the Yule ball. Many people had asked her but she had declined, she knew her hopes were really high to think that Harry will ask her but a girl is allowed to have her hopes.

"Cho is already going with Cedric" She overheard Harry moan in sorrow. Ofcourse. Cho bloody Chang

"Sorry for that mate" Her brother replied

"Why don't you ask Ginny?" Ronald said Ginny felt hope quell in her chest

"Ofcourse! I'll ask Ginny? She'll say yes too ofcourse. I mean she is by best mates sister afterall" Harry replied and that was enough for her hope.

Ofcourse Harry will ask her as a last resort. Ginny inwardly shook her head in sorrow.

"I'll ask her tomorrow" She heard Harry say as he left

"Hey Ginny" Harry came. This was the least awaited moment. She had told Luke - her best friend- and he had told her what to do

"Hi Harry" She said smiling at him. He seemed taken aback. She hadn't blushed for Merlins sake

"Do you want to go to the Yule ball with me?" Not even a blush. Not even a stammer. Not even not meeting her eye. It was clear she was a last resort

"I'm sorry Harry but I can't" She said smiling sweetly. Yes guess what? She can't! Michael corner had asked her yesterday at breakfast and she had said yes!!

"O-oh okay thanks" Harry seemed taken back again but went "But can I ask you why?" He said stopping mid way

"Because I got asked and this time not as a last resort" She hummed happily. And by noting the embarassed look on his face he now knew that she had overheard them.

He nodded ,abashed.

It was the day of Yule ball and Ginny couldn't be more content. Michael had danced like a dream, twirling her, laughing with her. And he truly made her feel like a real girl.

He was right now dancing with his sister telling her that he had owned her a dance. She had simply nodded and smiled at him

She was sitting idle swinging her legs when someone sat next to her. She thought it was Micheal so she turned but it wasn't him.

"Hey Harry" she said a bit shocked.

"Hullo gin want some?" He asked showing some round sweets

"What are they?" She asked looking at him in confusion

"They are muggle sweets people share these if they want to be friends there" Harry told her offering her some, she took them "So ginny will you be my friend?" He asked

"Ofcourse Harry" She said giving him a brilliant smile which he returned with a even brighter smile.

So they shared sweets and she allowed herselves to be escorted by Micheal giving Harry a kiss on his cheek as she went and outside the common room she kissed micheal
It was a happy ending afterall
