Everything was going so perfect. I was dating Lucas. Jake and I weren’t fighting anymore. My life was going well again. Lucas was trying his best to be friends with Jake and I could see that Jake was also doing an effort. Although, for the last couple of days Lucas wanted me to sit with him where he usually ate. He had his own friends and I couldn’t make him sit with me every day. So for now, I was sitting with his friends. I never thought I would date someone like Lucas. I always thought popular boys from the football team were jerks, but Lucas was sweet and kind.
Every day before break and lunch he would wait for me. He said he wanted to spend every minute he could with me. Sometimes while I’m talking he’ll suddenly kiss me, and I always blush. I notice some of the times when Rebecca is there and she tries to hide it, but I think she is a little jealous.
‘Hey, why do you space out like that? It’s like you’re in another world.’ Lucas waved his hand in front of my face.
‘Oh, sorry I was just thinking.’ I said turning to him and giving him a kiss.
‘And what were you thinking?’ He put his arm around me a pushed me closer.
‘I was just thinking, what a lovely boyfriend I have.’
Lucas smiled then he leaned and kissed me. We were on break; the bell was going to ring soon but I just wanted to spend as much time as I could with Lucas.
‘So how is Jake?’ Lucas asked.  ‘You guys haven’t gone into another fight, right?’
‘We’re fine, he asked me to sit with him today at lunch.’ I smiled.
‘Well, tell him you’re sorry but you are sitting with me again. We’ll sit with Jake and Avery tomorrow.’
‘You said that yesterday.’ I said.
‘Well that’s what you get for dating the football captain.’ He got up and looked at me. ‘They’ll understand, no big deal. Come on, we better get to class now.’
I know it was no big deal but it was the second week, I haven’t had lunch with them or even spent some time with them this week and I can’t risk losing my friends.

Well, at least my next class was English, which meant spending some time with Jake.
‘Hey’ I smiled, Jake was already in class, however no sign of Peter. I think he didn’t come today.
‘Oh, hi.’ Jake said.
‘So, you realized Peter isn’t here right?’ Jake asked
‘Yeah, I noticed, but he always misses a day or two.’ I sat down on the chair next to him.
‘He has been acting strange all week Leila, haven’t you noticed?’ Jake asked.
‘I haven’t paid much attention to Peter these past days.’ I admitted.
‘Yeah, Lucas is taking all your time.’ Jake mumbled.
‘Hey…’ I was going to say he was wrong, but the truth is, he was right. I was spending most of my time with Lucas, but what could I do? He was my boyfriend.
‘Well, at least you’re having lunch with me and Avery I right?’ Jake asked.
‘About that...’ I knew he would get upset. ‘I can’t, I’m sitting with Lucas again.’
‘Fine.’ Jake said. ‘Let’s just pay attention to class.’
We didn’t speak much for the rest of the class. Couldn’t he understand that I had a boyfriend now and that he wants to spend time with me?
My next class was with Jake as well and for the first half we didn’t talk much.
‘I’m sorry Jake.’ I said. ‘I know we haven’t hung out for some time, but Lucas and I have just started dating, that’s why we’ve been so glued together, but I promise I will start hanging out with you guys again.’
‘Yeah, I know.’ Jake said. ‘I’m sorry too. It’s just that I miss you. We barely talk now, just in class.’
‘I miss you too. We should talk more in class too.’ I said.
‘So, how are you doing with Lucas?’ He asked.
‘I’m fine. Lucas is amazing, He is so nice and polite. He’s funny, too.’ I smiled. ‘He really likes me.’
‘Well, I’m happy that you’re happy. Although I still find it hard to believe that Lucas is a nice guy.’
‘He is a nice guy. He is a really nice guy.’ I couldn’t stop smiling.
‘Let’s stop talking about Lucas before I get sick.’ Jake joked.
‘Hey! He’s my boyfriend.’ I said.
‘Yeah, I know.’

Later, Jake called me as I was about to enter Lucas’ car. We were about to go to one of his friend’s house and hang out. I didn’t like Lucas’ friends so much I was only going because of Lucas.
Jake seemed kind of worried. He said I needed to meet him in the coffee shop next to school. He said it had something to do with Peter.
‘Lucas, I can’t go with you guys.’ I said as I hung up the phone.
‘Why?’ Lucas asked.
‘I just got a phone call from Jake. I need to help him with something.’ I answered.
‘You’re leaving me to go help him?’ Lucas seemed frustrated.
‘Yeah, I’m sorry. He needs me and I’m his friend.’ I got my backpack from the car.
‘Come on Leila, help him tomorrow.’ Lucas said holding my waist and trying to kiss me. ‘I’m sure it can wait.’
‘I can’t. I need to go.’ I pushed him off and started running to the coffee shop.

Jake was already waiting for me outside the coffee shop.
‘Jessica told me there is something wrong with Peter and then she just disappeared.’ Jake explained. ‘We need to go to his house and check on him.’
‘Okay. Do you know where he lives?’ I asked.
‘Yeah, I got a copy of his school file.’ Jake said. ‘He doesn’t live far, but we need to hurry so we don’t miss the bus.’ Jake started running.
‘How did you get a copy of his school file?’ I ran behind him.
‘Long story.’ Jake answered.
