Joey had explained his father about what happend a day after he arrived back home since his people wanted him to rest and heal any injuries when they found him passed out infront of the castle's gate. On that same day Wolf was spotted near the castle with his back paw injured, their people took him and took good care of him right away. Joey didn't tell everything though, and just told his father that he was right, the dragon existed and he was chased by it. He lied and said that the dragon was the reason for the cut on his thigh. His father had informed that his horse came back home a few hours later and that was when they had send people out there to find him but he was nowhere to be seen. But he was glad he was doing okay. A month later, Joey decided to tell his father that he met someone but he interupted him by asking if he was someone dangerous, Joey shook his head and explained that if it wasn't for him he would have been dead. That had calmed the King down a little but it left Joey wanting to tell his father about his feelings, what he actually felt for him, just to see his reaction and then maybe tell him the rest and who the man actually was. But Joey just left it like that, not saying anything.
------
5 months passed by and Joey went out, still afraid of being chased by the dragon again but he reminded himself that he's brave and survived the first, and the second time, and that was without a sword or sitting on a horse to run away faster. He has been going to the river he and Shane fished at, for the 5th time, just sitting there, the exact same place where Shane sat and watched him make a fool of himself. This time he was watching Shane from where he was seated, Shane was standing at the edge of the river.
Months after the King disowned his own son, he gave him the chance to life his life back to normal, he was allowed to go out and left alone when he wants. Just not allowed to give orders. While his mother had already accepted him for who he was. They just needed a long break to calm down and understand. Well, his mother, his father still had a problem with most of it. The second time Joey went to the river was the day he saw Shane again, at first he thought he was hallucinating but Shane spoke and that's when Joey knew that he was real. Ever since they finally met eachother again, they promised to keep meeting up at the river, they both missed eachother but just didn't admit it straight forward. Shane didn't know where to find Joey or on which day but something told him to visit the river on that day. They both were lucky. So there Joey was, watching Shane turn around from looking at the river to approach him and sat next to him on the rock. They became alot closer and had even shared another short and simple kiss, it happened a few weeks ago since they wouldn't meet up every day.
"Isn't that suppose to be your father's?" Shane said and pointed at the necklace Joey wore. Joey looked down at it and held it, examining it once again.
"He gave it to me." Joey smiled. "He said it brought people together." There was a silence before Shane asked when he meant by that. Joey looked at him before glancing at the ground. The awnser to that was weird to him but ever since he found out that even a dragon existed, he could believe this one too.
"It glows up when love connects." Joey said feeling silly and frowned at the necklace, saying that it doesn't really makes sense because it was just some Stone Ore necklace, not a lightbulb.
"My father told me that his father and wife realized everytime they were together, feeling strong love for eachother it would glow. He didn't believe it until it happened to himself with my mother." Joey laughed a little, he was dying to see the item glow between his fingertips now.
"No wonder my father is after this.. It's magical." Shane chuckled. "It's funny because, what would my father do with something that shows when love connects, he doesn't seem like that person that would want....." Shane then stayed quiet, his mind was now occupied with odd memories. He actually saw the necklace glow. He thought he was seeing things at first but when he noticed it more than once, he realized that he wasn't.
"That would want what?" Joey asked since he didn't finish talking. Shane looked at him and tried to think what he was about to say.
"Oh ehm.. He just doesn't seem like the person who would want something that has to do with love. I guess just because it's magical it caught his attention." Shane then said, he had already told Joey about his father and that he wasn't a very lovable person. He already felt a little heartbroken when he thought about his father's words of disowning him but brushed those feelings off right away as he didn't want it to bother him any longer. The sun looked like it will be setting and that was his cue to stand up from his seat.
"I have to go." he said standing up, following Joey's eyes when he stood up to meet his gaze. Joey nodded and smiled a little. Joey didn't want him to leave yet but he knows that it will take some time to get back home. He thought about the days they had met here at the river and what they talked about, where they would go next and what they would do, when they both sat on their horses that walked next to eachother. Sometimes wishing there was only one horse for them both to sit on. He wondered for how long they would meet up like this and if it will ever end, in a good way. So they could actually be around eachother without any trees and waterfalls serrounding them. Like the walls of a castle, around tables, people, maybe family one day. He watched Shane get on his horse and giving him one last smile before making Unicorn walk.
"Hey." Joey called him before he could turn his back on him.
"You seem happy." he then said and walked closer, petting Unicorn.
"I was always happy?" Shane said.
"From the inside." Joey explained. Which was true, Shane did feel the difference in how happy he was before and how happy he was now. He was happy, his heart was happy.------
A month has passed and the princes were together once again, doing their own personal thing, knowing that no one will come and ruin their moments of laughter and jokes, teasing and simple pecks since they both didn't want to give in too much just yet. They would leave their horses somewhere just to be closer and enjoy the soft breeze that made the leafs lightly brush against the other. They would talk about what caused Shane to change his mind and what his feelings were, he would openly talk about it too, which surprised himself. He wanted Joey to know, especially after knowing that his feelings were the same as Joey's even though the man never openly admitted it. But the necklace did, and Shane just didn't tell him yet. While the two men enjoyed eachother's presence, which was comforting both of them, they had no idea that they were wrong and that they were actually being watched. For the 3rd time the information has been collected and brought back to the castle. Shane's castle. His father gave him a chance to life his life normally, but that was for a reason. He knew Shane would have any contact with the enemy again, which he wasn't allowed to do. So he would use his own son to get back what he wanted and had send some guards to follow him and they collected the information of the two men and where they would go, what they would do and it seemed like they were liking eachother. The King wasn't having it and already thought of a plan...
