You walked along the lockers, feeling a cool slight breeze hit your body. You made your way to the cafeteria and opened the door, revealing many students already seated and chatting with another.
Grabbing your food and walking to your table, your best friend Mark catches up behind you, keeping a distance between the both of you. "Hey, Y/n..." he softly spoke, without looking at you. "Hi, Markiepoo!" You cheekily smiled at him and noticed he was holding a few things on his right hand, hiding it beside him.
"What's that?" you asked, moving your head to get a better view of the items. Mark didn't answer, dodging your eyes with his hand. He made a heart with his big fingers and your eyebrows raised in confusion. "Are you gonna prank me? You've been doing that for a damn while now," you said, setting your tray of food down and seating yourself on the bench.
"Psh, I could be right now, but that's not top priority at the moment," he retorted, sliding onto the bench across from you. You noticed he never looked at you, which was concerning and odd. This wasn't usual of him. Maybe he's having a bad day, you thought, digging into your food.
"Y/n?" Mark suddenly began, his lips quivered as he pursed them. You stopped eating and looked up at him, worried. It was like he had gotten more shy and hesitant at the second. "Yeah, what's up? You haven't been looking at me at all, and I'm starting to think that I've done something to make you mad,"
He quickly shook his head and furrowed his brows. "Hell no, that would never happen," he continued. "I just, wanted to ask you- I mean, I know we've been best friends since like...fifth grade and stuff...
and I'm ready to change that- only if you want." He looked at you, then away to the floor. You tilted your head and raised a brow. "Mark I just, know, that you're pranking me." You said, laughing.
"No. I'm serious, Y/n," Mark held up chocolates and red roses up to the table, and faintly smiled nervously, gripping the bouquet tightly with one hand. "I've been liking you for so long, and I-I was too nervous to tell you. You make me feel like I'm flying in the sky when you hug me, talk to me, and even look at me...and I want to be someone you'll love forever-" his voice cracked. "-not just as best friends, but as...you know, more than that,"
Your eyes widened and you looked down to the gifts, and back up at him, who was biting his lip. "so, will you be mine, Y/n?" He finally spoke. You could hear people jolt up from their seats, gasps and whispers filling the silent air.
"I,"
"I won't pressure you, Y/n." Mark said, voice showing no hope.
"Yes," you answered, smiling and taking the bouquet of roses. Mark swiftly jumped up, face full of excitement.
"Oh shit, he said yes, let's go!" Someone said.
"Wait- wait, really?" You giggled and popped a chocolate in his mouth. "Of course, you've been someone I've liked for a while too." He chewed and his eyes watered as he tried to hide it. "I love you, Y/n." He whispered, leaning in towards you and kissing your lips, holding your chin delicately. You could hear his sigh of relief release and he closed his eyes. "I love you too, cutie."
"Woohoo, get it girl!" Many people clapped, cheers, hollers and jeers threatening to rip your eardrums out.
"Now fuck!"
"Shut up." Mark yelled back, and you immediately turned red, kissing him back. As you both kissed deeply, you could feel a smile form on his lips.
