Pools of blood

My whole world stopped. The gunshots should've made me scared. For me. But I wasn't worried about me or my well being. My only thoughts were for my 5 brothers. I wasn't caring about their health as much. Not because I didn't care. But because I was sure they'd survive. My eyes widened at the sight of them pulling out their guns.

"Idalia! Get out of here!!" I heard my father shout at me as more gunshots shattered the windows and burst through the wood of the house. About 30 men all wearing black, similar to the ones on the plane, rushed into the house and shot at other men who I assumed to be the enemy. The sight should've been enough to make me run. Run far away. Never look back. But for some odd reason I wasn't scared.

That's when I noticed them. They were all men that Connor and Tommy would meet up with sometimes and invite around the house. They would sometimes hit me when they were drunk or throw a bottle at me.

Within a few seconds, they were all lifeless on the floor, swimming in pools of their own blood. All apart from one. Embry pulled up his gun and was about to shoot when I told him not to. They all looked at me, including the brown haired man. He smirked when he saw me, a reminder of the first time he hit me when he came round my house. I walked toward him and stopped, bending down to his level.
"Jamie." I mumbled coldly.
"Little Idalia. Connor and Tommy finally had enough to your weak—"
"Don't call me weak until you know half of the stuff I went through. Why you here?" I hissed at him. He chuckled darkly and it sent waves of cold down my spine.
"Got orders from Tommy to bring you back. When he found out you were staying at Morreli's place I pulled in the big guns. Nice place, by the way."
He looked up at my father and brothers then around to all of the men in the room who were holding large guns at him. "You got cuter. I don't remember you being this cute."
"Maybe because every time you came over you had drunk an entire bar by yourself." I gritted my teeth in his direction. He hummed.
"Do you know your little daddy's secret?" He asked me. I had an idea of where he coming from.
"They're holding guns to your head, yes. They're also the ones who've treated me better than Connor and Tommy ever did." I felt everyone in the room stiffen.

"How did you know?" It wasn't Jamie that asked, it was Frank.

"Because I may be 11 years old but I am not stupid. The whole business thing? Dumbest excuse I ever heard for covering up that you're Mafia. What kind of business men has about 100 men just outside his building with weapons? Or has guns in their back pocket. But, also the news too." I said while pointing to the guns they gripped harshly in their hands to the point where their knuckles turned a pale colour. I turned back to Jamie who's jaw was now clenched in anger and his face was clouded by shadows.
"Tommy is going to find you you know. He's going to make you pay in ways you wish you were never born! He's going to drag you through hell and make you beg for heaven!" He spat as four of the men circled him and picked him from the floor.
"Your threats mean nothing to me, Jamie..." I smirked at him as the men dragged him down away.

Finally the adrenaline went away and I calmed down. My fists were balled into fists and tears of anger and grief that I had held in for so many years of my life game tumbling out. I was never sure if anything in my life. But I was sure of one thing now.

My walls had been knocked down.

By my brothers and father, who had shown more care and love than anyone ever had. By Jamie, who'd finally pushed me enough to stand up for myself, and by myself. I felt arms wrap around me and pull me into a tight hug. I trembled and pushed my head into the chest of the person who held me. When I finally looked up I saw all of my brothers staring at me with sad smiles and my father stood up.

I hurried myself in his chest and wrapped my arms around his neck. He lifted me and carried me up the stairs and into the bedroom. I looked behind me and past my brothers and saw the 50 men clearing the mess of bodies that lay on the floor.
Tony walked past and opened the door, allowing dad to pass with me in his arms. He placed me on the bed and kissed my forehead.
"C-can you stay with me tonight?" I asked them. "I don't feel like sleeping alone right now."
They nodded and dad lay beside me while the others found different places to sleep. Frank and Tony sat next to the window on the two large cream coloured chairs, Donny and Alessandro had brought a mattress through from somewhere and dumped in in the middle of the floor where they and Embry slept. I smiled as they all fell asleep almost instantly and I closed my eyes. I found peace in the light sounds of snoring and the warmth of my dad, who was cuddling close to me.
Within a few minutes, I was sleeping peacefully, my mind finally at ease.
