I hurt everywhere, I knew that at least. My mouth was dry, with a faint coppery taste in it, old blood I think. Feeling around with my tounge I noticed the absence of one of my teeth. I bet that's why it had bled.
"What happened to me?" I asked to no one imparticular, and no answer was what I got. My legs felt like lead, and I didn't want to get out of this bed, but I forced myself to.
"Woah, take it easy there cuz. Don't hurt yourself." Hiccup ran down the rest of the stairs to help me stand. He was holding a few bandages in his other hand, and I could see a few already wrapped around my wounds with some kind of icky feeling against my skin where they were. "You're in Gothi's hut, so you can't leave, okay? She's still healing you and the other girl. Down, sit down."
Nodding, I sat back on the bed, knowing I had to stay. Gothi was the village's Elder. The one who made all the big predictions and descions for our tribe.
"Wait...the other girl?" Sure enough, on my other side, laying on the bed was an unconcious girl. She was quite pretty, with just rags as clothing, no shoes and a large dagger tucked into her cloth belt, it had gold metal in its hilt.
"I'm gonna go help Gothi upstairs with more of the remedies, so stay here, okay?" He asked, not really waiting for an answer. I didn't even turn to look as he went back up the stairs, I just listened to his metal leg hitting the wood.
Her complection was what I was looking at though. She had smooth skin, with some rough patches from her journey here in the boat that was more of a wreck than anything. A lock of her sandy blond hair dangled just off the side of the bed, and it was so curly that if you pulled it out straight it would probably touch the floor.
I wondered what colour her eyes were though, and her name too. Slowly, looking at the roof, I went to get up, using my hands to slowly push myself off the bed. But they hurt so much, my arms did, and my whole body too.
In one incredibly un-elegant and painful movement I was up and leaning against the wall, from there I shuffled over to the table quickly, not having anything to hold onto.
"Ooof" Was all I could say as I plonked down into the nearest seat, feeling lightheaded, with a sore neck from the force of sitting down so hard. And then something struck me hard on the front of my skull, which made a clack sound. "Okay, okay!" I said, surrendering to the wrath of Gothi's staff and shuffling back to my bed.
She scowled at me, before making me drink some kind of herbal remedy that tasted quite nasty, almost like dirt. After a while though it did make me feel a lot better, and it cured the aches in my arms and legs.
Hiccup came down with another of the same, and I winced.
"Na ah, no way am I drinking any more of that." I protested, shrinking back.
"Relax, it's not for you, it's for her." He gestured toward the unconcious girl, I stood myself up next to him, not feeling so bad anymore, after all, she got the worst of it. "I wonder where she was from." he said aloud. "Well, she's a tough one for sure, I don't think even Astrid would have survived something like that."
"I wonder what would have happened to her if she hadn't have washed up on our shore." I said to him.
At that moment she gasped, gripping the sides of the bed. Her eyes flew open, and she tried to sit up, but Gothi pushed her down. "Hey hey, it's alright. You're safe." It took her a few seconds, but she let out a tired sigh and relaxed. "Where did you come from?" Hiccup asked, crouched down and looking her over with curiosity.
She was trying to say something. "W...wh..ere am I?" Was all she could seem to say.
"Berk, it's gonna be okay." Suddenly now she looked even more panicked than before.
"No...no! I can't be here. Stoik willl kill me. If he finds out..."
"What?" I asked her, leaning forward.
"If he finds out I came here from Outcast Island."
