Luffy's eyes slowly fluttered open
Blinding light hit him as soon as he opened his eyelids
Luffy slowly sat up supporting his head with one hand
He looked around and saw that he was in the infirmary once again
There were a few IV tubes beside him connected to his arm
He sighed as he recalled what had happened
He was on the deck talking to Whitebeard
Then Ace came running chasing after Thatch
He suddenly started coughing violently
And then he blacked out
As Luffy sighed again, the infirmary door opened
Luffy watched as Thatch tiptoed into the infirmary
Thatch looked around carefully, failing to notice that the rubber boy was awake
Thatch soon sighed in relief and looked his way
An audible gasp was heard and Luffy was suddenly in a bone-crushing hug
"Luffy! you're awake!" Thatch yelled out happily
"T-Thatchyyy you're crushing me!" Luffy struggled to escape Thatch's death hug
"Sorry!" Thatch quickly released Luffy from his death trap
"How long have I been out?" Luffy asked
"About 3 days," Thatch answered "The nurses say that you've started bleeding internally for an unknown reason"
Luffy looked confused
There was silence for a few seconds
"I'm hungry!" Luffy yelled out causing Thatch to fall backwards in surprise
"You okay, Thatchy?"
Thatch chuckled
"Just fine, let's go get you some food" Thatch said as he stood up and walked towards the galley with Luffy eagerly following behind him
It didn't take long for them to reach the galley
When they entered they saw Marco and Ace chatting
"Luffy!" Ace immediately ran over and hugged his brother
"Hi, Ace" Luffy hugged him back
"You're finally awake" said Marco
"Yup!" Luffy replied happily "Now, let go of me Ace, I'm hungry!"
Thatch came back with plates of food and Luffy started eating like a hungry animal
A while passed and Luffy finished eating
"So, you're okay now Luffy?" asked Ace
"Perfectly fine!" Luffy replied happily
"Why'd you faint the other day?" Marco asked
"I'm not sure, I was feeling a bit lightheaded that day, but I didn't think It was that serious" Luffy looked thoughtful
"I think there's more than that, you were coughing up a lot of blood" Marco stated
There was silence for a while
"Maybe it has to do with my time traveling" Luffy suggested
"I'm not sure how that would affect-" Marco cut himself off
"I got it!" Marco suddenly shouted
"What is it?" asked Thatch
"It's because of your devil fruit" Marco pointed at Luffy
"My devil fruit?" Luffy asked confused
"What's that got to do with Luffy internally bleeding?" asked Ace
"It's because there are 2 of the same devil fruits right now" Marco informed "It isn't possible for there to be 2 devil fruits at the same time, much less 2 devil fruit users, but, because Luffy time traveled, there's been an alteration and the system has been broken. That's why Luffy's starting to cough blood. It's because the devil fruit is rejecting him in this timeline." Marco finished
There were shocked faces from all three who were listening
"So that means that if Luffy stays in this timeline, he is eventually going to die?" Thatch asked slightly shaking
"Yes"
That was the answer they all were afraid of hearing
