I just wanted to write some nice fluffy stuff, because I'm emotional.

Enjoy

I shivered as I hugged my arms tightly, standing under the small ledge as rain plummeted down on the cement. It was freezing, and wet, and windy, and I just wanted to go home, but I missed my bus.

"God damnit..." I mumbled, sneezing suddenly. "Can't wait to have a cold tomorrow... I can't even call in sick... Shit."

I rubbed my arms as I rested my head against the stone wall, my teeth clattering as water dripped down the edge of the small ledge that protected me from the pounding rain.

I leaned my head out, looking up and down the streets as water dampened my hair, and drizzled down my face. Bad mistake, water-soaked my body. I sighed heavily as I sunk to the equally wet ground.

The wind blew harshly as I shivered. I closed my eyes and did my best to ignore the plummeting rain. I opened my eyes as I looked beside me, as I saw a pair of legs that were covered by orange jeans. Water from the ledge stopped drizzling on my already soaked frame, as I looked up to see a large umbrella towering over me. Its base was white and it was splattered with colorful polka dots, and its edges were dirty with mud and gravel.

I looked over at the kind soul that was saving me from the clutches of this wet, miserable moment, and I noticed he had messy, dark orange hair which was matched nicely with a black and orange baseball cap that was put on backward. He wore a baby shirt that had a yellow and white stripe. He had the kindest orange eyes, and probably the warmest and most sincere smile I've ever seen.

I stood up, staring at the boy, he was a little taller than average height, as he peered at me.

"Thank you." I said, nodding at him, trying to return his warm smile the best I could, but the frigid cold that wrapped around my body made it hard for me to be as happy as him.

"Of course, Princes- My friend, Ava, always told me to be kind when you see people in need of kindness... Which makes no sense because where I come from when you see someone suffering your first thought would be to put them out of their misery..." The boy spoke, rambling on. I laughed a little at his words. Every one of his honey touched words struck my heart. I hadn't been treated with such kindness in a long time.

"Well, again thank you. Can I get your name?" I asked, being bolder than usual. His smile only seemed to widen and he nodded, quickly and intensely, making his arm and the umbrella shake slightly.

"My name is Noi!" He introduced, his beautiful words just flowing out of his mouth like a sea of kindness and hope.

"Well, I'm (Y/n). It's wonderful to meet you." I said, holding my hand out for a handshake. The male only stared at my wet hand in confusion. "Do you not know how to shake someone's hand..?"

Noi shook his head, his head of hair flinging around some droplets of water, almost like a dog shaking out its coat. I smiled at his unfamiliarity with basic gestures, at least there's one thing about him that isn't perfect.

"Well, when you meet someone new, you normally would shake hands as a way to greet them... Like this." I instructed, taking the umbrella from his right hand and holding it in my left. I carefully grabbed his now empty, large, pale right hand, and held it like a handshake. His hand warmed my damp cold one, a warmth that I never wanted to end.

"So do you just hold hands with people?" He questioned, tilting his head to the left side in confusion.

"Well, no. You would generally shake the person's hand up and down." I said as I began to shake the male's hand.

"Woah! Okay, so like this." He said, repeating the motion, but way quicker and more aggressive.

"Woah-! Yeah, but you would normally do it more softly, just in case. Don't wanna rip someone's hand off." I said, laughing at my own words. The rain only splashed down harder onto the concrete of the sidewalks and the nearly abandoned streets.

"You can rip someone's hand off doing this?!" He yelled, looking concerned as he pulled his hand away, a longing warmth leaving my hand. I wanted to grab his hand again, and this time not let go.

"I'm kidding..!" I reassured as the boy looked at my wrist and hand to make sure he hadn't injured me. A smiled at the small gesture.

"Well, that's good." Noi, let out a small sigh of relief, as he moved slightly to be covered with the umbrella. Suddenly, thunder clapped as lightning struck the ground. The tall male, once calm and full of warmth jumped up and forward, hugging my shoulders for dear life.

"What was that?!" He asked, looking up and down the streets like the world was collapsing in on us.

"Calm down, it's just thunder and a little bit of lightning, it won't hurt you... Most the time." I said, rubbing his arms in a reassuring way, almost like I was comforting a lost child.

"Why is it so loud?" Noi questioned, hiding his face in my shoulder, as more thunder clapped and boomed in the sky.

"... I don't really have an answer for that. But I do know how to make it better. We should find some real shelter, it's getting pretty bad out here... Although I live pretty far from here." I said, hugging Noi back as the constant lightning and thunder only frightened the poor ginger more.

"Well, I live up in the apartment building right beside us... W-we could head in there." Noi suggested, gathering the courage to move his hidden face from the comfort of my cold wet shoulder.

"Alright- Wait if you live right here then why are you out here in the cold?" I asked, now it was my turn to tilt my head to the side in confusion.

"As I said before, my friend told me to be kind to those who need it, I saw you from the window and decided that I should help..." Noi explained, shrugging like it was no big deal. My smile widened at the boy. Kindness isn't something that just appears for me, it never has, and probably never will. I'm not treated with kindness like this, it's just so rare.

"Let's head inside." I said, almost having to yell over the loud sounds of thunder and lightning.

Noi nodded and grabbed my hand and the umbrella, and made sure the umbrella covered himself and me as well. He led me inside, with an arm wrapping around my shoulder like he was trying to protect me. He brought me to the elevator and pressed the button to what I assumed to be his floor of the apartment. As soon as the elevator doors opened he dragged me out of it, leading me to a slightly open front door, and the right handle seemed to be burned and useless.

Noi led me to the living room where four others stood, all as interesting and unique as the next.

"Noi, who is this human?!" A black-haired male questioned loudly, glaring between me and the ginger boy.

"Oh, be quiet Asch. Hi, I'm Ava... Are you the reason Noi ran out into the rain?" She questioned, glancing between the two of us, a slight smile tugging on her tired-looking face.

"I'm not sure how to answer that.." I answered truthfully, shrugging my stiff, and damp shoulders.

"Yep, they are!" Noi said proudly as he wrapped his arm around me again like it was the most normal thing to do.

Maybe kindness isn't that rare after all.
