Cyberpunk 2081: The City of Dreams

Prologue: Balance

April 21st, 2081 - Night City

The corporate balance of power has changed in the city of dreams.

With the son of Saburo Arasaka in charge of the family's fortune, and the destruction of its headquarters in Night City, the company's future remains questionable. As Yorinobu makes drastic changes to the Arasaka Corporation, their stocks have dropped down 30 percent as he sells off buildings and districts to the highest bidder, creating a power vaccum big enough to change the balance of power within. With this vaccum present, and the Arasaka family returning to Japan, this leaves their rival, Militech, taking its place as the biggest presence in the city, alongside several smaller companies. In a desperate attempt to undo the mistakes of their boss in Japan, Arasaka America has begun a top secret operation to ensure their domination of Night City over Militech, one that may prove detrimental if leaked to the New United States government, possibly bringing an end to Arasaka America.

Of course... this is what's changing at the top. At the bottom of the wealth pool however, Night City remains the same as it did four years ago.

Gangs and drug peddlers remain within their own territories, citizens of Night City live dangerously in the crime-filled streets, the police are becoming more and more corporate, and mercenaries are making a killing in this day of age... at least the more competent ones.

Little has changed in the heart of Night City. Thus, our story begins in the Badlands of Night City. An imperfect son of a nomadic preacher seeking a better life in Night City as a police officer. Unfortunately for him, Night City isn't called "The City of Dreams" for nothing, but will find instead an adventure unlike any other.
