10 years after the battle of Mission City, Optimus Prime and his teammates went their separate ways and have gone into hiding ceasing all contact with humans to avoid being found by Cemetery Wind who have been hunting the transformers to near-extinction. battered and broken both physically and emotionally from losing so many of his Autobot brothers and being betrayed by the human race, Optimus Prime is in a dark place when he is found by the human inventor Cade Yeager in a scrapyard in Texas mistaking him for an ordinary red-and-blue 1984 cab-over engine semi. but his spirits are lifted upon befriending the Yeager family who help restore his faith in humanity and after saving them from Cemetery wind agrees to protect them with his life and take them on a cross-country Road Trip to help re-assemble the Autobots and clear their names. at the beginning of the movie he takes the form of an old red-and-blue 1984 cab-over engine semi as an homage to his classic G1 design, but he gets a new form with knight-like armor inspired by the 13th prime after pulling the Star Saber out of its pedistal along scanning a modern-style western star semi truck provided to him by S.T.A.R.S. In addition to his trusty ion blaster, he goes on a vision quest where he gains a large cybertronian broadsword known as the Star Saber that he finds inside the wreckage of the Knightship in Antartica which belonged to his past life AKA the 13th prime. at the end of this rewrite he and the Dinobots blast off into space aboard the Knightship.
