*After Chapter 33 of The Mute Alpha*

The events that took place in the course of a month and a half caused some stress among the pack. Their Alpha disappeared and so did their Luna and Beta, leaving the members under the authority of the third in command. People began to worry, having no knowledge of where they went or if they would ever come back. Those who worried the most were Kian's aunt, uncle, and cousins. They did not know whether or not he would come back. Like the careless boy he was, it never occurred to him to even leave a note to let them know where he disappeared to.

To his defense, they would not have let him go even if he explained the situation to them.

So when Kian opened the front door to their house, he was greeted by a very tight embrace. "Oh Goddess, where the hell have you been, young man?" Aunt Caroline cried as she buried her face into Kian's chest.

Kian stayed silent, searching for words to explain, but came up short. How was he supposed to tell his family that he found his mate, who happened to be a dude and the Beta, and then they got stranded in Canada with the Luna, but still rescued the Alpha? Would they even believe him or think he was insane? Probably the latter.

His body ached so much from all of the activity and stress that he leaned into her warm body and gladly accepted the hug. He was not one to show affection or any emotions for that matter, but something over the past few days changed something within him. The fear he felt, the relief, all of it was too overwhelming for him.

"Kian, honey, are you alright?" Aunt Caroline asked once she pulled away from her nephew. She took notice of the bags under his eyes and the obvious exhaustion radiating off his body, as well as the faint bruises on his face. Kian slowly nodded his head, millions of thoughts running through his head.

Was Theo going to be alright?

Those wounds looked pretty bad, and he took forever to recover. The hyperthermia did not serve any justice, making it even more difficult for him to heal. By the time they returned, they immediately rushed him to the pack doctor along with Jax, who happened to be in pretty bad shape due to the beatings and slashes he received.

While Kian wanted to stay and make sure everyone was alright, Autumn insisted that he return home to his family, who were probably worried sick, and she was right. He saw the relief in all of their eyes, an emotion he never saw in his parents eyes. If they heard about this, which they probably did, they would be furious and most likely demand for him to return home.

"I'm fine," Kian finally replied as they all stared at him expectantly. He pushed past them to stumble up the stairs, carrying his worn out bag over his shoulder.

"Are you going to tell us where you were?" His uncle questioned when he noticed Kian slipping away.

"Yeah," Amelia agreed, crossing her arms. "You can't just disappear and come back without explaining yourself! We were so worried about you!"

"Well I'm fine," Kian sighed. "So you don't have to worry." Then he trudged up the stairs and locked his bedroom door. When his body flopped down on his bed, he stared up at the ceiling with droopy eyes, a feeling set heavily in the pit of his stomach.

He didn't know what the feeling was, but a small part of him had an idea. He missed the presence of someone, but had no idea why. Well, he tried to convince himself that he didn't.
