3rd person POV
It had been four days since Eddie's mother had left for Massachusetts (and Eddie had finally come to terms with his sexuality), and he hadn't seen any of the Losers since. He didn't blame them, to be honest, last time he did kind of ruin everything by running out like that... Eddie cringed at the unwelcome memory. But he was bored as hell, and he missed Richie. So he decided to call him.
"Hey Rich," Eddie greeted warmly when the ringing on the other end of the line stopped.
"Eddie Spaghetti! Hi!" Richie exclaimed, and Eddie found himself grinning just at the sound of his voice.
"Stop calling me that," Eddie mumbled, blushing a light shade of pink.
"Never," Came Richie's reply, and Eddie could practically hear the grin on his face.
"Whatever. You know that wedding my mom's at, the one in Massachusetts?"
"Yeah, isn't she coming back on Friday?"
"Yeah, I was uh... I was wandering if you wanted to come round for a sleepover? I'm sorry I fucked up the last one..."
"But Eds, it's a school night! You can't have a sleepover on a Wednesday!" Richie gasped, doing a terrible impression of Sonia Kaspbrak.
"Shut the fuck up Rich it's literally summer break," Eddie laughed, "Now are you coming or what?"
"Of course I'm coming, idiot," Richie responded, "Oh, and you didn't fuck up the last one, I'm not mad if that's what you're worried about," before hanging up.Eddie smiled wider and walked into the front room, knowing Richie would be leaving any time now. He picked out a horror movie - much like the one they had watched last time - which he knew Richie always enjoyed, and got it set up. Once Richie got here, there wouldn't be much time for anything else seeing as it was already six PM.
Once the movie was set up, Eddie shifted his weight from foot to foot as he stood in the hallway, eagerly awaiting his best friend's arrival. Making a split-second decision, Eddie rushed upstairs to change into something more comfortable and threw on an oversized shirt (it happened to be the shirt he had worn when his mother had left, the one which actually belonged to Richie, but Eddie didn't realise) and his red shorts. As if on cue, the doorbell rang.
Eddie ran down the stairs, almost tripping, and opened the front door as soon as he reached it. Richie's lanky body stood outside, and he was grinning dopily at Eddie. He opened his mouth to speak - probably crack some terrible joke like always - when Eddie surged forwards and wrapped his arms tight around the taller boy, pulling him into an embrace. Richie stiffened for a moment, shocked, but quickly returned the gesture, laughing into Eddie's hair.
"What was that for?" He asked once they'd pulled away and Eddie was blushing that 'adorable shade of pink' Richie loved so much.
"I just- I'm sorry. Really. About all of it... I shouldn't have been so over dramatic. Let's just forget about the stupid prank, yeah?" Eddie said, looking up at Richie with a small smile playing at his lips.
"Oh um- yeah, yeah, sounds good," Richie answered, "Now are you gonna let me in or what?"
Eddie stood aside and Richie walked in, closing the door behind him."I got that horror movie you like ready. Did you bring snacks?" Eddie asked as they walked into the front room.
"No, I came to a sleepover without snacks," Richie rolled his eyes, "I may be stupid, but I'm not an idiot,"
"They're literally the same thing, dumbass," Eddie said, and they both sat down on the sofa as Richie produced four packets of candy from his hoodie pocket. He was wearing a faded black and yellow Nirvana hoodie and black baggy jeans."Wait, is that my shirt?" Richie asked suddenly, looking at Eddie with one eyebrow raised and a smirk on his face. Eddie immediately turned scarlet.
"Wh-what? No. Shut up," He said quickly, turning away from Richie and instead facing the TV. Richie laughed.
"You're adorable," He said without thinking, and his eyes widened when he realised.
"Huh?" Eddie asked, fiddling with the remote and not turning away from the TV. He didn't hear, thank god.
"Nothing," Richie said, tearing his gaze from the still slightly pink cheeked boy and instead facing the TV screen. Eddie pressed play. They ate the snacks fairly quickly, and found they were still hungry when they were finished. They paused the movie and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner, before resuming their position on the couch and continuing the movie. This time though, Richie and Eddie sat closer together so their elbows almost bumped when they ate. Neither of them noticed. Once they'd finished their sandwiches, the two settled down again. They were now just about half way though the movie, and Eddie was beginning to get tired. He yawned loudly and looked at Richie with tired eyes, hoping he understood. He did.
Richie nodded a little and smiled, opening his arms so Eddie could crawl between them. Eddie did, and was immediately comforted by the warmth Richie's arms brought as they wrapped tight around his frame. Eddie smiled into Richie's chest and closed his eyes, his legs curled up so he was pretty much in Richie's lap, yet he was still short enough for Richie to be able to see over his head. After a little while, Richie began to sift his fingers through Eddie's fluffy hair, causing the younger boy to sigh happily. This was the most calm he had felt in weeks.
The movie was now around three quarters of the way finished, and Eddie's soft snores were all Richie could focus on. He hadn't moved his hand from Eddie's hair yet as Eddie was obviously enjoying it, but now he finally did. He reached for the remote to his right, making sure not to wake the sleeping boy in his lap, and turned the movie off. Next, he tightened his grip around Eddie and slowly lay down until he was comfortable on the sofa, Eddie now lying on his chest. Their legs were tangled together and Eddie's arms snaked around Richie's middle of their own accord, he was still snoring though. Richie felt his cheeks grow warm and he bent down slightly to press a kiss into Eddie's hair before laying his head back against the armrest and quickly falling asleep.
