3rd person POV :
After a while, the rushing horde of nurses and doctors had stopped, and there was only one doctor left.
The both assuming that doctor was Giyuu's doctor as they've seen him do checkups for him, they decided to ask them what was going on.
"Ah. Hello Rengoku. You must be here to visit Tomoika. " The doctor said before Rengoku or Tanjiro could say anything.
"How did you know my name?" Rengoku asked, confused.
"I overheard someone calling you that." The doctor explained.
"Okay, but how is Giyuu? Why where there doctors running out of his room? I thought he had passed his most dangerous stage?" Rengoku asked.
"Woahhh..calm down there a little bit. The patient had just woke up, and he fell on the floor due to shock, he reopened a lot of healing cuts.." the doctor said.
"He..he woke up!" Tanjiro exclaimed, almost with tears streaming down his face.
"Ah..yes. But he just woke up about a while ago, so there are still some things we don't know yet." The doctor explained.
"Thank you...Atsushi Mikamo." Rengoku looked at the name tag, and thanked him.
"No problem." Atsushi replied.
Rengoku and Tanjiro ran into the room filled with happiness and excitement, and that wave of emotions only grew larger when they saw Giyuu sitting straight up on his bed.
Giyuu turned his head, and looked at them.
He turned around, and flashed a sad smile at them.
Although it was a happy day. The sun was shining, but around Giyuu, the sun seemed to lose its warmth. There always seemed to be a dark aura, separating him from the outside world.
Tanjiro had always this misconception.
Suddenly, Tanjiro's phone rang, and it was his mother calling him home as their bakery had a sudden wave of customers.
"Sorry, but I have to go. Our bakery has gotten a lot of customers. It was great seeing you awake, Giyuu-san!" Tanjiro exclaimed, and Giyuu waved goodbye at him.
As Tanjiro ran off, Rengoku walked up to Giyuu, attempting to give him a hug.
But instead, Giyuu dragged himself into Rengoku's arms, cuddling him even harder. Tears poured out of his eyes like a waterfall.
Rengoku POV :
God..he's crying. I never want to see that. Not in a million years. It's just that.. when he cries, it just drills a hole in my heart. It was like someone stabbed me in the heart with a knife.
"What happened? What happened?" I asked, as I grabbed a chair and sat down with him in my arms.
"Ren...I have..some news." Giyuu said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Before I tell you..promise me something." He said.
"Of course."
"Promise me that you would never leave me." Giyuu muttered.
What..I would never leave him. I never knew he felt this unsafe with me..
"I would never leave you! I promised that in our last life!" I exclaimed.
"Alright..."
"What is the news?"
"I-I...." he trailed off, "Cant feel my legs anymore." Tears streamed down his face.
