Song Inspiration
BEFORE IT SINKS IN by: Moira
Suspended in the air I hear myself breathing Hanging by a thread My heart is barely beating
I haven't fallen yet But I feel it comin' Tell me would it be too much to ask If you break it to me gently
That I'm waking the next day Without you beside me And who I hold on to today Tomorrow might just be a memory
And I would look back at all of this And wonder why I stayed in here Just to watch you disappear
So I breathe and let it go How do I breathe and let you go?
Before it's too late I'll take a step away I know one word would make me go Rushing back to you
So I'll just shut my eyes Forget that you were mine How do you go from making one your home And then just letting it all go
Let me take it in Before it sinks in
Far beyond my reach Is the future you promised Now what I never even had I have every reason to miss
And I don't know where I could find the strength to let you go When the only life I've come to know Packed his bags and left me alone He found another home
So before it's too late I'll take a step away I know one word would make me go Rushing back to you
I'll just shut my eyes Forget that you were mine How do you go from making one your home And then just letting it all go
Let me take it in Before it sinks in
Before it's too late I'll take a step away I know one word would make me go Rushing back to you
I'll just shut my eyes Forget that you were mine How do you go from making one your home And then just letting it all go
Let me take it in Before it sinks in

AUTHOR's NOTE
In February, I wrote a short story for Valentine's Contest 2021. My entry WANTED: Cupid's Love introduced Avery's character to me. I never planned to give the narrator/character a name. I never thought then that she needed a name. But when I was about to finish writing it, I felt another story must be within; thus, Avery came to life. I realized that, just like some of us, we were somehow insignificant or may have felt insignificant at some point. Meeting Avery at the end of my Valentine short story was like finding a voice within. It was a match made in heaven when I accidentally heard the song above, which inspired me to develop her character more.
It's human nature that when we love, we hope and dream of a happily ever after. But in love, we don't always get a happy ending. So this story is not an ordinary love story, but it's one of the real ones, from finding love, experiencing how it is to love and be loved, getting hurt, and choosing whether to endure or step away.
I felt the pain as I slowly found Avery's voice. It was a hard battle between expectation and reality, as I ultimately made Avery choose a very important life decision. But I learned some of love's great lessons.
I hope that as you enter Avery's world, you also see that there is love in letting go, and we shouldn't sacrifice the most important, which is LOVE FOR ONESELF. Just like Avery, may you have the courage to believe that someone you love can only continuously hurt you if you give that person the power to do so.
I believe it shouldn't be the ending when love breaks one's heart. Be brave to pick up the pieces, however slow and long it may take. Only when you step away will you find the new meaning of love and, hopefully, the one your heart genuinely deserves.
Can two individuals from vastly different backgrounds find love despite the challenges of their troubled pasts? Will their shared experiences bring them closer together or drive them apart?
Fate discovered that her parents had arranged her marriage to a stranger, prompting her to depart from New York with a firm determination to alter her destiny. She hoped to find her soulmate, her true love, in a faraway place.
Mara, an ordinary person, is struggling with a difficult decision. Should she continue living a solitary life or take a chance and open her heart to a celebrity she met unexpectedly while experiencing a moment of serendipity? All she wants is to heal her broken heart.
