In a perfect world.

In a perfect world, I'm holding you, laying a kiss on your forehead. We watch the sunset as we lay on the windowsill. You feel the most safe in my arms, and I feel the most loved in yours. You laugh at some stupid thing I did earlier, and I pretend to be annoyed. We both break into laughter and you tilt your head back so that I could kiss you. Our hands are interlocked, filled with joy, knowing that there is only one more day till our wedding. The day I get to hold and cherish you forever, nothing in this world able to rip us apart.

But of course, we are not in a perfect world. I still sit by the windowsill, but instead of holding you, I lay against the window, tears staining the glass. Because instead of waiting a day till our wedding, I am waiting a day till your funeral. Instead of laying a kiss on those soft, beautiful lips, and holding your hands, I hold the wedding dress. The wedding dress, you were supposed to walk down the isle with. I hold it tight against my chest, even though that should be you. I should be holding you right now, why aren't I? Why aren't we in that perfect world?
