"(Y/N)!" the 16-year-old boy called as he saw the girl approaching.

"Good morning, Langa!" she smiled as they naturally synced into step to make their way to school.

After taking a few steps, the girl brushed back a strand of her (H/C) hair before striking up a conversation. "Did you finish the assignment for history class?" (Y/N) asked, knowing fully well that Langa tended to forget or simply neglect his homework every once in a while.

"I did. The one about Imperialism, right?"

The girl deadpanned. "Langa, we've been done with Imperialism since last semester. The assignment was about World War 2."

Langa stopped in his tracks, looking at the girl in disbelief, barely keeping his calm. "Please tell me you're joking." As the girl shook her head and sheepishly pressed her lips together, Langa died inside as his soul was ready to ascend to the heavens.

(Y/N) sighed before turning the corners of her lips up into a smile and laughing. "Don't worry, I'll let you copy mine just this once." With that, Langa was revived as he thanked her and praised her with no end. "(Y/N), what would I do without you!"

Right as the first lesson had ended and everyone started going their own ways for the break, (Y/N) took out her history homework and handed it to Langa who only sat behind her to the left in arms reach. "Here you go." Langa smiled, thanking her again before engaging in copying the answers as fast as possible.

The girl took out a sandwich to eat for breakfast, but when she had just unwrapped it, a few girls approached her. "(Y/N), sorry for bothering you, but can you show us your picture from art class again. Maya didn't see it yet."

(Y/N) stared blankly for a second before reacting. "Oh, sure." She rummaged in her backpack to find the picture and took it out.

"Wow~" The girl named Maya seemed to be awestruck. "You're so talented."

(Y/N) smiled sheepishly and laughed. "Oh, it's nothing. There are more talented people than me."

"I still think it's amazing. Do you want to become an artist after you graduate?" she asked with genuine curiosity.

The(H/C) girl hummed in thought before answering. "Well, I guess that's the plan so far if nothing happens."

Her classmates smiled in a friendly manner. "Best of luck then." They raised their palms slightly to show they were going to get going and turned to leave as (Y/N) returned the gesture.

Just as they were passing through the door, she could hear the group of girls talking among themselves. "(Y/N) is so nice, but why is she always only hanging out with Langa?" "Well, he sure is good-looking, but he's always so quiet and barely answers when you talk to him. I really can't tell what he's thinking."

When they were out the door and out of earshot, (Y/N) sent a glare in their direction. 'We can hear you!' she thought, being slightly offended on Langa's behalf. He hadn't heard them anyway though since he was full on focusing on copying the assignment.

(Y/N) composed herself. It's not like the girls said something particularly derogatory. It was true that Langa seemed somewhat unapproachable to others. And it was also true that he was good-looking. She wasn't embarrassed to admit that much to herself. And as long as it didn't bother Langa, she wouldn't mind being the only one close to him. Others didn't know what they were missing out on.

A quiet grumble sounded from the girl's belly and as she finally snapped out of her train of thoughts, she turned her attention back to her breakfast. She took a bite of her sandwich and turned around to look at Langa, wondering how much he had copied yet.

Scanning the sheet of paper from beside the boy, (Y/N) scrunched her nose up a little. At this rate, he wouldn't have time to have breakfast at all. "Langaaa, hurry up. You also need to eat something."

Not turning away from his task at hand, Langa replied. "I'll just skip breakfast. Our next class is history, so I can't stop now." He sighed, seemingly coming to terms with the sacrifice he was making but not giving the impression to be particularly fond of it.

A grumble was heard yet again, this time from the blue-haired teen, making (Y/N) doubt it was a good idea for him to skip a meal.

She promptly grabbed the other half of her sandwich and held it under Langa's nose. "Here, I'll feed you like the baby you are." The girl chuckled in amusement. "It's your favourite, so just eat."

With no ounce of embarrassment or humiliation but rather, in a way, appreciation evident in his actions, he accepted her offer and took a bite of the sandwich she held for him, never stopping letting his pen glide over the page and keeping focus.

The two of them were alone in the classroom after the group of girls had left since everyone else wanted to enjoy the nice weather today. (Y/N) was uncertain if she would have been embarrassed to basically feed her childhood friend if other people were around. She figured no, since what people who weren't important in her life thought didn't really matter to her. But Langa was important. He, and her family, were her priority and he knew to appreciate it.

The girl's free hand fumbled with her earlobe as she felt over the delicate snowflake earring. How often did she hear people question her accessory choice since it seemed unfitting for the summer. She chuckled internally. Those people obviously couldn't know the meaning the earrings held for her.

"Ah, before I forget to ask," (Y/N) remembered. "can we go to the bookstore after school?"

"Is the new volume out?" Langa asked in return, already guessing what she was talking about.

The girl hummed happily in response. "Sure is! I've been waiting so long~"

"Let's also go to that café where they have that one drink you like so much. My treat, as a thanks." The boy mumbled through chewing the last bit of (Y/N)'s sandwich.

The girl suppressed an unworldly screech of excitement and instead resulted to a happy "Yaaay~" They usually didn't go to that café so often since it was always very crowded, but when (Y/N) was craving her favourite drink, there was no obstacle she wouldn't overcome and no obstacle that meant Langa could be spared to come along.
