“Translucent.” I heard a high school girl read the title of my favourite picture hanging in my photo studio. Lumapit ako sa kanya.
“Do you know why that picture is entitled translucent?” the girl looked at me.
She shook her head. “No. But I wonder why.”
“Because in that picture there are actually two persons. A girl and a boy” Sabi ko.
“Two? But I don’t see anyone beside the girl.” Sagot nya sakin.
“No. He’s here.” Tinuro ko kung saan naka pwesto yung lalaki. “He’s just transparent.”
“And because the guy is transparent the picture is entitled translucent? Is it?”
Nagnod ako sa kanya. “Though he’s translucent in the eye in the girl’s heart the guy is still beside her in that picture.”
“But why is the guy transparent in that picture?”
“Hmmm.. because at that time he was already a ghost. He died in a car accident for saving the girl he loved.”
“Aww. So it was a tragic ending.” Medyo nalungkot siya.
“No. It was a happy ending. Knowing that the one you love loves you back will make you happy even if it you were apart.”
Nakatingin lang siya sakin naguguiluhan siguro siya sakin. Nagsmile ako sa kanya. “Love isn’t just about being together always it is about a feeling that never fades out even if death tore two people apart.”
Binaling niya yung tingin niya sa picture.
“Miss, magkano yung ganitong package ng picture.” Tanong nung isang customer na pumasok lumapit ako sa kanya after kong maentertain yung customer lumapit ulit sakin yung high school girl.
“The girl’s name, do you know what it is?”
“Nagsmile ako sa kanya. “Amethyst Villegas.”
