────────────────────A TENSE SILENCE pervaded the large, red car as the Argent family drove on that cold, December morning, on the way to the new town they would be living in for who knows how long. Chris Argent was at the wheel, driving in stern silence as Victoria Argent sat in the passenger seat, thumbing through a magazine on one of her favorite clotheslines. In the back passenger seats, were their teenage daughters, Allison and Rosine. The two brunettes were not particularly happy to be leaving San Francisco and moving to some other, smaller, town in the middle of literally nowhere.
Finally, their youngest daughter decided to break the silence. "I don't understand why we had to leave San Francisco, it was such a nice town!"
"Rosine, we've been over this," Victoria was quick to firmly respond, not pleased with the girl's poor attitude. "Your father has to travel for his job, it's always been like this, why are you making such a big deal now?"
Chris Argent decided to weigh in, "You used to love this. I remember the two of you were always so excited about moving to new places and making new friends." It was true. When the two girls were younger, they always became so excited with the prospect of traveling to new places. Of course they were upset to leave their friends behind every time, but it hadn't been until their middle school-high school years that things changed. At first, for Allison, the major concern had been leaving friends behind, but after she was forced to be held back a year due to the amount of moving they had done at one point in the span of one whole year, that became her biggest concern.
"Yeah, well, that was before our traveling caused me to be held back a year," Allison was quick to snap, arms crossed over her chest, body language mirroring her own crossed expression. She was still quite upset about it and self-conscious, even today.
Rosine sighed, deciding that it was a safer option to soften her tone, "I really liked our old school. It had interesting AP classes and even an IB program!" For years, Rosine hadn't actually minded the traveling and the constant transitioning into new towns and schools. Rosine was bummed about her friends, but was never too upset due to the fact the most of the friends she made never truly felt like long-lasting friendships.
However, when her last school had been an incredibly prestigious and well-funded school, with an IB (International Baccalaureate) program, along with a variety of interesting AP classes, Rosine had been prepared for the next four years to study under such amazing teachers in these awesome classes. After all, finally, she would be in a class that proved to be a challenge for her, one that wouldn't leave her bored, but instead bring out her best potential and test her limits as a student. Only for it to be cut short before she could even have a taste of the classes she wanted, as freshman weren't allowed to take such high-demand classes, and sophomores couldn't start the IB program until their junior year. She'd moved in the middle of sophomore year!
