Erik had informed Aella the reasons why she was being recruited. Sebastian Shaw, who was also a man whom had killed Erik's mother, which was known later after Charles had told her, was planning to start a nuclear war. Erik mentioned that Shaw had other mutants helping him, as well as himself, causing the need for an opponent that equaled the same.
"Fire against fire." Erik told her, a gleam of revenge in his eye.
"We just have to stop Shaw from starting a war, heaven knows this world needs another one." Charles said sighing.
"How many other mutants have you recruited?" Aella asked.
"Five, including my adopted sister, Raven." Charles said leaning back in his chair. "Then there's you, Erik and I."
"Eight of us." Aella nodded.
Upon arriving in Virginia, Aella was introduced to Moira MacTaggert, the CIA agent who had originally asked for Charles' help. She wore herself high, a part of Aella felt the pride she had for getting this far and finding mutants to help stop a war.
While walking through the compound, where the CIA was housing the group of mutants, Aella took in the night sky. The night was cold, Aella held her bag closer to herself and walked alongside Erik as he expressed his concerns with Charles.
"I'm telling you, these kids are not ready for Shaw." He said shaking his head.
"I think they're going to surprise you. They're an exceptional bunch of young people." Charles said proudly.
As the group approached the area where the young mutants were, loud music could be heard as they approached. Upon seeing the area, the place had been trashed, the young mutants showing off their powers to each other which started to intimidate Aella.
"What the hell...?" Moira said as she saw too, the mess of drunk teens and the ridiculous behaviour they were acting in.
A young women with blonde hair was dancing around, laughing with a few others, just being teens. Aella looked to Charles who was fuming.
"What are you doing? Who destroyed the statue?" Moira asked putting her hands on her hips. Aella turned to her side and saw the head of a stature in the courtyard, across the grass, leaving the body headless.
"It was Alex." One with glasses said quickly.
"No. Havok. We have to call him Havok. That's his name now!" The blonde haired women said almost laughing. "And we were thinking," she stumbled a little, "you should be Professor X," she pointed to Charles, "and you should be Magneto." pointing to Erik.
"Exceptional." Erik mumbled sarcastically, looking to Charles before walking away, Moira soon followed him.
"I expect more from you!" Charles said pointing his finger at the blonde haired girl. She looked at Charles for a moment, making Aella feel her brokenness.
Charles looked to Aella and motioned for her to follow him. As he walked off, Aella looked to the girl again, feeling her sadness. Putting her head down, Aella soon caught up with Charles.
"I'm sorry about that." He said as they walked down the hall of the complex. "That was my sister, Raven."
Aella stayed quiet, just following Charles to her room. Once they stopped outside a door, Charles turned to her. "Are you alright?" He asked.
The tomb girl looked up at him, nodding. "Just fine." She said quickly.
Charles gave her a look and shook his head, "I know when you're lying."
Aella looked away from him, knowing he was right. "I'm just very unsure about all of-" she motioned around her, "this."
Charles nodded and hummed to himself. "Everything will be fine." His words didn't make Aella feel any better. "Erik and I are leaving to Russia in an hour. Why don't you get some sleep, you've had a long day."
Aella looked at the Professor once more, before nodding at his suggestion. "Thank you." She whispered.
Charles didn't know why she said thank you. Instead he looked to her before walking off down the hall, giving her a smile that was his best attempt at reassuring her that things would be alright. Aella turned back to the door and slipped her hand on the sliver knob, slowly opening it to reveal and small room with a bed, desk and a bathroom. Looking back down the hall, she watched as Charles disappeared around the corner, leaving her to her new life.
After a restless night, Aella decided to wander around the compound once the morning sun was high in the sky. She walked back the way she came the night before. She looked to the statue that had been destroyed the night before, it still missing its head.
Aella wandered into the room where the yoke mutants were the night before where a girl with black hair was sitting, feet up, eating some cereal. Across from her was a boy with blonde hair, leaning back, eyes closed. Aella looked towards them before the the girl saw her and squinted to her.
"You're the newest recruit?" She asked, causing the guy who was laying down eyes closed, to open his eyes, also squinting at Aella.
"Urr.... yeah." She said awkwardly.
"I'm Angel, this is Alex."
"Hey." Alex said groaning.
"I'm Aella."
Suddenly, three other men walked into the room, and so did Raven, Charles' sister. They all looked to Aella as they entered. Angel stood up from her seat and motioned to the new mutant in the room.
"This is Aella, that's Hank, Raven, Darwin and Sean." She said walking next to Darwin.
"Hi." Hank said giving a shy smile, followed by the others saying hello.
"What's your power?" Raven asked.
Aella looked at her peers around the room. "I can... move things with my mind." She said softly.
"That's rad." Sean said laughing.
"Can you move that cup over there?" Darwin asked pointing to a cup that was sitting on the counter about twenty feet from Aella.
"Um... not really. I can't really control my power. It just sorta happens." Aella said sighing.
The group looked between each other, "That's okay, neither can I." Alex said who was still laying on the couch eyes closed.
The group looked towards him and laughed, making Aella crack a smile at the friendly group she had just entered.
