(Ep 27) Remember when

Heart Cords season one
Script

{Dylan walks into the cafeteria and sees sky sitting at their usual table with Freddie and Melanie laughing about something he contemplates for a second and walks over]

Dylan: hey, sky can we talk like in the stairwell

[they all stop laughing, Freddie and melanie stare at sky waiting for her to reply to him as she looks down for a second]

Sky: alright then.

[sky follows him to the stairwell and he sits on one of steps, she stands in front of him and put her hands in the pockets of her sweater]

Sky: okay? You brought me here so what is it ?

Dylan: I want to apologize for what happened at the Halloween party, I didn't want to kiss Claire she-

Sky: You seriously think this is still about Claire?

Dylan: isn't it ?

Sky: God you're oblivious, No! This is about the closest person I have not supporting me and supporting my decisions

Dylan: Gilbert is not a good guy-

Sky: how! How do you know Dylan!

Dylan: I just feel it okay

Sky: oh yeah that's reasonable ! You haven't even had a conversation with the guy and you hate him

Dylan: sky listen to me-

[he gets up angrily and stands it front of her]

Sky: NO! You listen to me, I don't need you to be telling me what to do and certainly don't need you to protect me!

[she shoves him back to move him out of the way and starts walking away]

Sky: oh and the band? I'm done;  find another bassist

[he watches her walk away with his heart in his stomach and a lump in his throat and he swallows back tears]

Dylan: fuck.

[tears roll down his face as he walks up the steps to the bathroom on the second floor and he thinks back to the first time they met]

[Flash back]

[a tiny dylan only in second grade sits on the grass alone at recess pretending to play a guitar]

Tom: hey loser what are you doing?

Braden: something gay I bet!

Dylan: i-I'm practicing my guitar

[both kids burst out laughing as one of them kicks at his hand really hard making him let out a cry]

Tom: stupid loser-

Sky: leave him alone you two

[a tiny looking sky approaches them crossing her arms]

Braden: piss off

Tom: yeah go away! Or are you trying to defend your little boyfriend?

Braden: ha you need a girl to defend you!

[both boys point and laugh at him dylan looks down in silence and sky's face fills with rage]

Sky: assholes.

Tom: what'd you say? I'm going to tell the teach-

[ launches at both of them knocking Tom down and starts hitting him profusely as He tries to throw off and Braden tries to pull her off as Tom cries]

Sky: help me out here!

[she calls out to Dylan he quickly gets up and starts kicking Braden. By then kids were rushing around the fight as two teachers try to push through pulling them off of each other yelling at them to stop as they were all dragged to the office. In the office Dylan and sky sit next to each other silently sky has a bandage on her cheek and her knuckles are bruised, Dylan isn't as hurt but has an ice pack on his arm]

Dylan: thank you

Sky: you're welcome

Dylan: I'm Dylan

Sky: hi I'm Selene, but everyone calls me sky so I guess you can too why did they pick on you?

[dylan shrugs and looks down at the floor]

Sky : oh, well what were you doing at recess?

Dylan: practicing my imaginary guitar, I'm going to be in a band one day and I'm going to prove everyone wrong

Sky: that's cool I'm going to be a pop star so maybe when we're both famous we can play together

[dylan's face blushes at little as he looks at her smiling sweetly]

Sky: you know, you can be my friend if you want

Dylan: really?

Sky: yeah and we can protect each other!

Dylan: okay!

[Dylan stands in front of the sink mirror and splashes water in his face to calm down, his chest pounds as he can barely find the second to  breathe . He finally catches his breath and thinks to himself]

Dylan: I'm going to make this right, I can't lose her.
