Y/n's POV

The door slams shut with a click as Mike stands there, completely speechless. He blinks five times, trying to decide if this is real.

El glances at me, then back at Mike. Mike's face breaks into a grin, for the first time in months.

'You're alive,' He says, swallowing back the tears that prick in the corners of his eyes. 'I called you-every night.'

A gentle sigh escapes from El's lips. 'I know, I heard.'

'What? Why didn't you answer?' Mike's eyebrows crease.

'She couldn't,' I reply quickly. 'Hopper wouldn't let her. He's been keeping her safe.'

'Hiding her,' Mike scoffs, glancing around as if Hopper would appear. 'Where's the sick son of a bitch?'

'Not here,' El shakes her head. 'I left.'

'Oh,' Mike says softly. 'You weren't allowed?'

'She should get back,' I add. 'It's not safe.'

El glances at me pointedly. 'Not yet.'

I sigh. 'Hopper's going to kill you.'

El shrugs.

'Listen, Mike,' I say. 'If anyone finds out she's still alive-'

'She'd be in danger,' Mike nods. 'Promise I won't tell.'

'Don't tell a soul,' I warn. 'Not even Lucas, or Dustin.'

'What about Will?' Mike tips his head. 'You told him, didn't you?'

'Yeah,' I scratch the back of my head. 'I was concerned for your mental health.' I say only half sarcastically.

Mike lets out a short laugh. 'Crazy.'

'I missed you,' El says.

'I missed you too.' Mike replies, hugging her. Tears run down El's face.

I turn away, not wanting to intrude on the moment.

'I'm going to go find Will.' I say. 'Make sure you get home without anyone knowing.' I turn to El. She nods. Turning to the gym doors, I quickly send a bolt of energy that fuses the lock, so Max doesn't come out and see this 'newcomer'.

Something's wrong. I can sense that Will is in danger. He's back there. In the upside down. I run as fast as I can to the field. I don't know why I go there first, it's just intuition I guess.

'Will!' I scream, seeing his limp figure in the grass. 'Will?'

I press my hand to his forehead, but something blocks me from getting in. 'Will?'

Will starts shaking, screaming on the ground. His arms and legs twitch and convulse. I stand there helplessly, trying to enter his mind, before running towards Joyce's car that just pulled into the parking lot.

'Joyce!' I yell. 'Will's- Will's-there's something wrong with him.'

Joyce doesn't answer, but follows me towards him.

'Oh Will!' She collapses next to his body, shaking him. 'Will, can you hear me? Will?'
