"earth to Lorna!" my best friend Mika shakes me out of my trance that I didn't even know I was in
"huh? What's up?" I manage to blurt out
"we are on our way to the airport for you to start your new life looking after your grandparents in LA and this is probably the last time you're going to see me and you have the audacity to stair out of your window and be in your own thoughts? Uh I don't think so!" my very sassy best friend says in her usual tone of voice
"I'm sorry Mika I just can't believe that I'm moving to LA 4 days after my parents funeral to look after my grandparents" I say kind of shaking my head as the reality was hitting me
"hey this might be good for you... Besides you could see Sam and Colby again you never know. And you haven't seen those boys in like forever" she says getting excited for me
"yeah I doubt that one Miks, they're famous now and they probably don't even remember me" I say with a sigh
"oh come on Lorna they left less than 6 years ago of course they will remember you, you've been their best friend since their asses were the size of short buttons and if they don't talk to you then they have clearly let the fame get to their heads, I mean you 3 were the original 3 and then I joined in high school so don't stress it girl" she says trying her best to convince me that Sam and Colby haven't changed much
I don't say anything to her, little does she know that the boys and I haven't spoken in years because of some stupid argument Colby and I had, he had a crush on me you see and I said that it wouldn't work because we lived in 2 different states after they moved. They still don't even know that my parents are dead so that's going to be a hard thing to tell them if I ever do see them. When they got famous they changed their numbers and both unfollowed me on social media, yeah they were famous when back in Kansas but their career really took off when they moved. I'm happy for them and if I'm honest I don't even think I really wanna see them I just wanna move on and stop living in the past. We finally pull up to the airport, I hug Mika goodbye and have a little cry before I walk in and go through security and wait for my flight
"bit nervous there?" a deep voice booms from behind me
I spin around and see a tallish emo boy with brown and red hair, I cock my head to the side like a dog and smile awkwardly hoping he would elaborate on what he means
"it's just you look like you haven't flown before" he finally says noticing my confused state
"oh I have but it was a very long time ago" I say with an awkward laugh
"ohhh okay, well I'm Jake by the way" he says nodding at me and then sitting down
"well hi Jake I'm Lorna" I smile at the goody looking boy
"well nice to meet you Lorna, I hope to see you around LA at some point because it looks like you're moving there" he says while stuffing his hands in his pockets and heading to board the plane
Well weird guy Jake that I met in the airport I do actually hope to see you again you seem nice I guess and like the life of the party this however was a weird encounter so let's hope that does not happen again. I finally get on the plane and shortly after listening to all the announcements I drift off to sleep both dreading and looking forward to my new life in LA
