Thomas' pov
My mind was slipping. I couldn't keep up with my own thoughts. I was once again starting at that wall. Eyes carefully passing on each name. Until a voice broke thru my thoughts
"What are you doing Thomas?" It was Chuck. He was standing right beside me. His face red and his breathing very fast. He probably had saw me from afar and decided to run to me
"Chuck I need to tell you something. I need to tell someone, but I need you to promise me you won't tell anybody. I mean it Chuck, no one has to know!" I said desperately. I needed to get it out of my chest but I really didn't want to mess things up. Chuck was now visibly invested. He has always been very curious, a little nosey from time to time, but I guess it was his nature. At the time, he was really young after all.
"Yeah I promise" I sighted when I heard him saying that, almost wishing he wouldn't be willing to keep a secret from everybody, so that I wouldn't have to share it.
"Remember when I used to have nightmares? And I kept asking about a boy.."
"Noah" he interrupted me "You were obsessed about a boy named Noah" I stopped looking at the wall and focused on little Chuck
"Yes. Noah" I replayed "The Greenie.. Kayla.. she's been having nightmares too. I was checking on her and she asked me who Noah was" I continued. Now Chuck looked really exited about the bomb I had just dropped - " I told her what you guys told me. That there's no Noah here. I came here to make sure but the thing is, I didn't need to come and see that there has never been a Noah in the glade, because when I used to have those dreams I would come here every single day. I could spend hours reading each name three times, scared that I might have passed on his name... But I never did. So at some point I just gave up." I explained, with my eyes now fixed on my new girl-friend's name on the wall
"Thomas you have to tell the others about this"
