CEWHL.com: Sherbrooke Keeps a Firm Grasp on the League as the Season Winds Down

Offseason moves have seemed to help Sherbrooke come out from underneath the shadow of their interprovincial rivals as they remain firmly atop the entire league and look poised to take home the Commissioner's Trophy as regular season champs. Their success is due in large part to the elite-caliber goaltending the Widows have received from free agent signing, Mikaila Perkins—also a league favorite for the Rheaume Trophy. Sherbrooke has doubly benefitted from the ever-gritty play of instigator Jolene DiMoni, her energy providing an edge that the team lacked in previous seasons.

With the season winding down, we head into the first ever league-wide "bye" week. A big headline of the league's offseason activities was the implementation of the break, beginning on March 14th, giving teams a break to recharge and reload for the last 10+ games of the regular season. Many proponents of the bye week say it will give teams with nagging injuries time to recoop and struggling teams a chance to right their ships. Those opposed say an entire week off will destroy momentum built by teams that are rolling along and competing at a high level. Regardless, the league heads into the break with the completion of tonight's games.

"Who the hell gets married on a Wednesday in the middle of March?"

Waverly heard Wynonna complain about this very subject for god, if she had to guess, she'd say approximately...thirty million times since the invitations went out.

"I think it's a lovely time for such an occasion," Doc chimed in from where he sat beside Wynonna.

"Shut it," she swatted at the man, "you're supposed to be on my side."

"Stop being such a Negative Nellie, this is incredible," Waverly spoke, turning her attention out the window of the car they'd rented for the trip. The further they drove into Newport, the more she felt like she was stepping backwards in time to the Roaring Twenties. She allowed herself to imagine, briefly, what it would be like to live in one of the seemingly never-ending supply of expensive looking properties with the love of her life and a family of her own.
