Before we start: do you ship it?
Jiro lazily scrolls through her playlist, pausing before picking a song and placing an earbud gently in her ear. She recently found an American band that she really likes, though she doesn't understand all of the words. Luckily, they're famous enough to have some Japanese covers, though the covers are pretty amateurish. She sits on her bed, hitting play and listening carefully to the words. When it gets to the chorus she sings along, the words ingrained in her head from listening to it a few too many times.
"♪ Whatever it takes!
'Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins,
I do whatever it takes!
'Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains,
Whatever it takes!
You take me to the top, I'm ready for
Whatever it takes!
'Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins!
I do what it takes. ♫"Jiro continues to mutter the words, though she's matching the syllables more than anything. Thanks to the Japanese covers, she knows the meaning of the words. Every time she sings it all she thinks of is a certain hothead in the class. The lyrics are too perfect not to imagine him. His overwhelming passion screams with the lyrics of the song. Jiro would show him the song, but she's sure he'd judge her for listening to American music. The music pauses as the next song loads, excitement rushing through Jiro when the next song starts.
"♫ Just a young gun with a quick fuseI was uptight, wanna let loose
I was dreaming of bigger things and
Wanna leave my own life behind
Not a "Yes sir", not a follower
Fit the box, fit the mold
Have a seat in the foyer, take a numberI was lightning before the thunder ♪"
Another song that screams Bakugo to Jiro. She doesn't mind, though. She jumps on her bed, grabbing her microphone and singing into it. The mic's off, but the idea of performing makes Jiro's heart race. Maybe one day Bakugo will watch her sing....
The next night Bakugo walks into the lounge, his harsh gaze softening slightly when he sees Jiro there, humming to herself as music softly drifts from her earbuds. Her eyes are closed, her soft hair bouncing slightly with her head. Bakugo stands there for a moment, smiling at the girl. He tchs when he realizes his reaction, a faint blush forming on his ears as he turns away from her, ready to leave.
"Oh, hey Bakugo." Jiro hums, taking one earbud out to talk to the boy. "Did you want the lounge? I can leave..."
"No, you're fine," Bakugo says over his shoulder, waving his hand dismissively. "I was just leaving anyway."
"Hey, wait!" Bakugo stops in his tracks when he feels a small, rope-like structure surround his wrist. He glances back at Jiro, a small tch escaping his lips as she recalls her earphone jack. "Oh... uhh... sorry. I just thought maybe you'd want to hear this song I'm working on?" Bakugo hesitates, his first reaction telling him to listen, but his gut feeling screaming at him to leave before this gets any worse than it already is.
"Sure, why the hell not." He growls, plopping down beside Jiro. She smiles at her success, handing him an earbud. Bakugo tchs at her beautiful face, fighting the urge to stare at her and instead facing forward, placing his forearms on his legs and intertwining his own fingers to keep his hands in his eyesight.
Music fills Bakugo's ears when Jiro hits play, the beats each landing in such an unexpected yet exciting way. Bakugo can't help but tap his foot and sway his head, fully enjoying the music. It comes to an end far too soon when Jiro yanks the earbud out. Bakugo merely glances at the girl, an eyebrow raised as she chuckles nervously.
"You don't want to hear me sing, so I'll just end it there." She mumbles, neatly wrapping the earbuds.
"What makes you think that?" Bakugo mutters, staring at the floor before him.
"What?" Jiro questions, her eyes widening slightly as she notices blush on Bakugo's ears.
"Forget it. I'm going to bed." He stands up, stretching his arms and yawning. He walks toward his room, pausing at the door before looking back at Jiro. "It was really good, by the way."
"Huh?" Jiro was more shocked than anything. A compliment from Bakugo was not easy to come by.
"The song. I liked it." Bakugo clarifies, leaving the room before Jiro can say anything more. She watches as the boy leaves, a blush slowly forming on her face.
