All I Need

She laid on the bed numb. Crying . She was hopeful and was very sure that this time it would be real. Yet again she was proven wrong. 'Sometimes we create our own heartbreak through expectations' her fathers words rang through her ears

"Em? Are you okay everyone is waiting" he said opening their bedroom door. Emily had excused herself saying she need to go to the bathroom 15 minutes ago before they started the game. It was Saturday night. Which meant game night with the team.

He saw her curled in a ball on their bed. Her body shaking with muffled sobs. His attention was drawn to the 4 negative pregnancy tests on the dresser.

"It's okay Em" the told her helping her up and bringing her onto his lap. She wrapped her arms around him and continued crying. Ever since her first miscarriage the doctors informed them that it would be even harder for her to conceive than before. However she always look a test, several actually when she felt like there might me a possibility. This was her 7th test on the last 9 months. Every time the bold 8 letter word appeared her heart would break a little more.

"I thought it was really this time" she whispered into his neck

"I know honey. I know." He tried soothing her as he ran his hand up and down her back
"I know it's hard for you. But I want to to know I won't love you any less. I want a family with you. A little girl or boy of our own. But I also know it's hard. You and Jack are all I need. I need you to understand that. Do you understand?" He said pulling back so she could look at him however she looked down

He placed his index finger under her chin and brought her to look at him.
"Do you understand?" He asked

She just nodded and whipped her tears

They sat there for 5 more minutes, before they walked back down to their guests again. She sat neck to Aaron and they cuddled together under the grey blanket. He received several looks from the team but just shoot his head and focused on Emily. The night went on smoothly and Jack and Henry came down shortly, tired from the day. Henry went to his mom and Jack went to Emily. Jack stopped in front of the couch the couple were sitting on and looked at Emily  

"I'm cold" the boy told her giving her a boyish grin. Knowing if he flashed his dimples he would get 'his Emmy cuddles'
She lifted the blanket with one hand and held out the other arm inviting him. Jack immediately snuggled close to her and fell asleep shortly after he told her goodnight and that he loved her.

"Your all I need" Aaron whispered softly into her ear as he watched the two. The movie to end the night started playing and tears silently tracked down her face as she rested her head on his chest.
