Together? Together.

Chapter 2

Emma starts to run. She doesn't know where just wherever her legs took her. This isn't like Emma letting her feelings get the best of her.

She runs for what feels like forever but in reality she hasn't been running for 10 minutes.

Emma: <holding back tears talking to herself> "what happened to him, why why why!"

she starts to sob

Emma: "He can't do this! Its not fair Its Not fair!!"

-SETTING SWITCH <ray>

Ray got up and started to walk looking for Emma.

He's starting to wonder if shes okay. She couldn't have gone to far. Right?

He starts to over-think as he picks up his pase before hearing Emma's sobs.

He feels his heart drop. He'd never admit it but seeing his family hurt like this kills him but he stays strong for them. For them. Is Norman part of them anymore? Are Norman's new friends his real family? He decided its not important and starts to run towards her.
Ray: "Emma? Emma its me." He whispers as he finally reaches her.

Emma: <sniffles but puts on a clearly fake smile> Oh H-Hey Ray"

Ray: "I know that's not what you wanted to hear...but i don't think we can change his mind so easily"

Emma: "I k-know but he didn't even consider our opinion. He's just changed so much..."

<Emma stops holding back and lets her tears roll down her face>

<Ray crouched down next to Emma>

Ray: "Listen to me. I know the hurt you feel...it's not even hurt, technically more like betrayal. You still have everyone else and you got me."

<Emma practically jumps into his arm causing Ray to fall to the ground before slowly returning her hug>

Ray: "We made it this far, you're not giving up on us now are you?"

Emma: "O-of course not! Why would you think such a silly thing?"

Ray: "Exactly. We've figured out this much so far we can figure this out too"

Emma: "...thank you Ray."

<Emma tried to pull away knowing Ray doesn't enjoy hugs as much as she does or Norman doe- ...used to at least>

<Emma tries to pull herself off Ray for a few moments before realizing he wasn't letting go she smiles before going back to hugging him>

Emma (thoughts): Does he enjoy this as much as I do? Or is he trying to make me feel better? He's gotten much better with words...still rarely speaks around anyone though. Then again that's really more Norman's speciality- was it was his specialty.

Ray: "Emma? Are you alright you zoned out."

<Emma snaps out of it before pulling Ray closer>

Emma: "sorry...just lost in thought."

Ray (thoughts): Oh what does go through that pretty little head of yours Emma?

Ray: What are you thinking about?

<Emma got and idea before slightly smiling and looking at Ray>

Emma: "You're hugging me...without me being the one to make you stay you're the one who made me stay for once. "

<Ray slightly blushed and looked away>

Ray: Zip it or I'll stop

Emma: "I'll shut it for now...did he say anything to you?

Ray:"No I gave him my input though.

<Emma wants to know what Ray told Norman but decided not to push it>

Emma: "We've been out for a while now...the others are probably worried about us."

<Ray stops hugging Emma before standing up and offering her a hand to help her get up>

<Emma takes his hand with a smile>

Ray: "Are we telling anyone about why we were out so late?"

Emma: "I'd rather we didn't...."

<Ray kept his calm on the outside in the inside we was freaking out about the fact she didn't wanna tell anyone. Did she mean the Norman thing or the sitting with me thing? Deep down inside he didn't want it to be the sitting with him thing.>

<Ray let go of Emma's hand to avoid anymore of these thoughts in her head she slightly frowned before catching herself and smiling again and starting to walk with Ray following close behind. Oh how she wished to hold his hand again.>

Ray: When we get back I'll put everyone to bed...you should rest.

<Emma looks at him confused due to the fact he would never normally make this offer...something must be up>

Emma: It's okay Ray I can do it!

<Ray rolled his eyes>

Ray: It wasn't a question, I'm putting them to bed and you're going to rest.

<Emma was beyond confused by his assertiveness but she wasn't in the mood to argue with anymore of her closest friends>

Emma: Alright...Thank you Ray.

<They begin to walk side by side both lost in their own thoughts>

Emma (thoughts): I wish I could read him as easy as he reads me he can just look at me and see if something is wrong

Ray (thoughts): I really don't wanna deal with everyone right now...but Emma needs to relax and rest. She's strong she'll be alright...oh who am I kidding I wish I could just hold her and tell her everything will be alright

<Ray snaps out of his stupid fantasy in order to prevent him from doing something he'd regret>

<Emma turns to Ray grabbing ahold of his sleeve>

Emma: i miss him Ray...i miss our best friend

<Ray doesn't know why those words hurt him so much...did she like Norman better than him>

Ray (thoughts): Get these stupid thoughts out of your head!!! Of course she still likes Norman better than me....

Ray: i do too but we're going to have to push through this...

Emma (thoughts): I wanna hug him again...at least hold his hand

<Emma lets go of his sleeve before slipping her hand into his and squeezing it>

<Ray freezes for a moment before looking at her and squeezing it back and smiling>

Ray (thoughts): this is nice really nice...no Ray get those stupid thoughts out of your head she's only looking for comfort right now

Emma (thoughts): Is he smiling because he finds it entertaining? Or for a different reason...no that's not possible he probably just feels bad...but it looked genuine not like a pity smile though i've seen plenty of those recently

Emma: Ray have you ever wanted to do something stupid?

Ray: Your talking to the guy who tried to light himself on fire yes I have wanted to do something stupid

<Emma looked and him and smacked his arm with her free hand>

Emma: That's not something to joke about Ray!!

Ray: I already apologized at least a hundred times but why did you ask?

Emma: I don't want to go back yet...i don't want to explain why I'm feeling off.

Ray: Then don't its simple

Emma: But then it's not fair too Don and Glida if they have to be worried about us and handle everyone. 

Ray: They'll be fine it's not like they've never been out without us knowing....Do you want me to stay with you?

<Emma can tell Ray was being serious he really thought she wanted to be alone>
