Tonight is the night where the dead come to life
Where ghosts and monsters cause fright
Family and friends join for a competitive night
Pumpkin picking and decorating feels just right
A tradition that has lasted for many years,
Where the losers shed tears
And the winner celebrates with other peers
Halloween, the holiday of fright and fun
As we carve pumpkins in hopes of winning the grand prize
Children and parents getting ready to compete
As the game has just begun.
We set up tools and the pumpkins
Letting each person take their time
Each person receives an hour to decorate and carve
With the distractions of a spooky night
Best decorator shines bright
All members dressed up in costumes
While enjoying the sight of friendly acquaintances
The competition is on
Competitors start to work
Using carving tools to perfect their designs
Judges take a stand once the game has come to an end
The pumpkins are scored from best to worst
When the winner is crowned first
The grand prize is revealed
After all the hard work it is time to go out
And enjoy the spooky night
Together as a family taking flight
And children holding on tight
