That was five days ago. The police read these over and over again and told me that they would figure out who took Sara. But after three days they said they just didn't know. The police didn't have enough evidence to find her. They thought she was drunk when she texted that the kidnapper was a monster. The fourth day they declared her dead.

Now I stood in her house blinking away tears. I read the texts just one more time before deleting them. I walked into her bedroom, the last known whereabouts.

And on the bed was a red rose.
