Charlotte arrives at the party, greeted by her two best friends from school who live in Ackley.
"Evershed!" They slur and Charlotte smiles. They lead Charlotte into the house and she quickly realises just how big the party is, considering it's a school night. Not that it mattered.
Music's blaring from a speaker in the living room and loads of people are dancing. Charlotte's friends lead her into the middle of the room, joining the dancing. As her friends drag her through the crowd, she brushes past a boy named Johnny, who's talking to a girl named Fizza.
"Sorry." Charlotte mutters, smiling apologetically as she looks back towards the pair.
Charlotte and her friends dance for a while before Fizza places a drink in her hands.
"You look like you could do with it, looking at these guys." Fizza says, laughing.
Charlotte looks at her Kingshill friends and laughs, they're all pissed.
Fizza clinks her cup against Charlotte's and they down their drinks. As she drinks, Charlotte casts her eye over towards Johnny, who's looking at her.
Charlotte leaves the cup by the side, smiling at her friends who are still dancing. She spies a pack of cigarettes lying on the table - she recognises them as her friend's - and swipes it before walking outside. Charlotte doesn't notice Johnny following her.
Charlotte finds a spot to sit down outside her friend's house and takes a cigarette out the packet. She sighs, realising she's forgotten a lighter. One of her Kingshill friends walks past and hands her a lighter, realising Charlotte didn't have one, winking at her as they walk past, seeing Johnny was walking towards them.
Charlotte raises her eyebrows and smiles in response, before putting the cigarette to her lips and lighting it. She takes a drag and looks up at the sky, not hearing Johnny sit down beside her.
He watches Charlotte sitting there smoking and looks at her closely.
'She must be our age, but she looks and behaves much older.' Johnny thinks to himself. Charlotte looks down from the sky and turns to face Johnny, who smiles at her. Charlotte smiles back, before smiling, realising Johnny wants a cigarette.
Charlotte laughs a little. "I wouldn't if you haven't before." She says.
"S'not like anyone would know." Johnny replies, smiling. Charlotte shrugs, handing Johnny a cigarette. Johnny looks at Charlotte, seeing she has a lighter, subtly asking for her to light the cigarette for him. Charlotte does so without hesitation.
But before Johnny can take a drag himself, muffled shouts can be heard from inside the house and the blaring music stops. One of Charlotte's friends runs out the front door towards them, a worried look on her face.
"Evershed," She says, "Parents are coming home early.. you and your little friend need to leave." She adds, smiling.
Charlotte rolls her eyes and looks at Johnny, taking the cigarette out of Johnny's mouth as he looks at her confused.
"Not Evershed as in Martin Evershed?" Johnny asks Charlotte, staring at her.
Charlotte smiles. "The one, the only."
