george's phone wouldn't stop buzzing. he was grateful for silent mode, he really was, but he also hated his phone vibrating against his thigh every damn second. well, until he heard that one specific ringtone. when that went off, he dropped whatever he was doing to answer the phone.
"hey nick!" george said, beaming even though he couldn't even see the younger boy.
"hey, georgie," nick's voice was teasing. "can you meet me outside the supermarket in a few minutes?"
"i can, why?" george raised an eyebrow.
"no reason."
sure enough, george was waiting outside the local supermarket in the cold at five-thirty in the afternoon. he didn't know it was cold, so he was shivering slightly, clutching his arms to himself, hair waving in the strong breeze.
moments later, though, warmth spread over him as he was tackled into a hug by a certain raven-haired boy.
"oh. there you are, nick," george mumbled into the crook of nick's neck.
"hi!" nick grinned, slipping his hand into george's.
"so, what are we doing here?" george asked, mostly distracted by the fact he was holding nick's hand. sure, they were dating, but they'd only been dating for around a month. both of them were clearly very inexperienced with this whole "dating" thing, but nick was bolder to make decisions while george was shyer. nick thought it was adorable when george slowly took nick's hand and tried to hide his blushes.
the automatic doors unfolded open for them as the pair walked through the entrance, swinging their hands back and forth.
"well... i told you when we started dating i'd take you on the most unusual date you'd ever been on, right?" nick swung his head around to face george.
"yeah? wait, is this it?" george's gentle brown eyes widened. nick nodded excitedly in response, pecking george's cheek lightly. george turned a vibrant shade of pink as he was dragged through the grocery store aisles by his lover.
they passed the snack aisles, the "toy" aisle (which, by the way, nick just had to look through before the continued), and now stood in the middle of the dairy/organic fruits section. nick's grip on george's hand seemed to go tighter as his excitement grew.
"i see them!" nick said happily. george looked around for whatever nick was talking about, but couldn't see anyone, confusion and anticipation coursing through his veins.
"see who?" george asked, squinting his eyes as he scanned the grocery store.
"not who, silly," nick giggled, "them!" he pointed to the tank of lobsters by the side of the meat section. george burst out laughing, stopping nick and burying his head in nick's chest.
"oh my god, nicholas."
but george was smiling. he was smiling like an idiot, an idiot in love. he was in love with the idiot who took him to the fucking grocery store to watch lobsters as a date.
"you're so stupid," george laughed. he placed a messy kiss to nick's lips, tugging him along as he walked to the lobsters.
"wanna place bets?" nick grinned cheekily. george laughed aloud again.
