In days when god and titans ruled
And bid their will though wills were cruel
A smithy lived in Ancient Greece
A man whose craft did never cease.

Whose skills did reach the highest fame
And won for craftsman great acclaim.
So much that Vulcan god of craft
When hearing praise was full of wrath.

And scheming went to Cretian lands
Where Minos tyrant king does stand.
To bid him seek the craftsman's skill
In hopes that task would further will

So down to smithy king then went
On task that crafting god had sent.
To have him build a maze for beast
Who great on flesh of Cretans feast.

And craftsman wanting fame from task
The hand of wicked king did grasp.
And set himself to prison build
With all his knowledge craft and skills.

In days when gods and titans ruled
And bid there wills though wills were cruel
A smithy lived in Ancient Greece
A man whose craft did never cease.

He made the walls to shift and change
So Labrynth stayed forever strange.
And none could learn its twist and turns
Nor ever walls of prison spurn

Once placed in maze as gift to bull
To placate beast's own hunger cruel.
But Minos cruel and violent man
Did just as god of smithing planned.

And placed the craftsman deep in maze
Where ancient Grecian monster laid.
For many years he wandered halls
And out for help the smithy called

Then heard one day a faint reply
From boy who's sent in maze to die.
But found his way through Labyrinth's walls
And came on smith who loudly called.

As father man did love the child
And raised boy in manner wild
Yet still for outside world he longed
To live amidst the Grecian throng.

In days when gods and titans ruled
And bid their wills though wills were cruel
A smithy lived in Ancient Greece
A man whose craft did never cease.

He built a set of waxen wings
In hopes that freedom craft would bring.
And pair did leave their hold that day
On tides of winds they fly away.

But boy was strong and very bold
He sores too high for wings to hold
And slowly craft begins to fail
Till down to earth the boy does flail.

Into the water child does crash
And dies at sound of horrid splash.
On nearby island father lands
To look at all the fruits of plan.

And crying out does question why
The son of smithy had to die.
Then over waves that foam with wrath
He heard a callous godlike laugh...

In days when gods and titans ruled
And bid their wills though wills were cruel
A smithy lived in Ancient Greece
A man whose craft forever ceased...
