Roman

Roman sat on the bed in the room that the girl with the black eyes had used the key to unlock the door with. She soon found her name to be Amber.
It was nice that she had her own space, but the walls were thin and everyone knows walls have ears. The brown room they had discovered had split into two at the sides. One side led off to a girls dormitory and one had led to the boys. Roman didn't trust this place, and she didn't like being far from Caspian- even if he was simply across the hall.
Amber had brought in Beatrice- who looked older than her with golden curls and kindness in her eyes- to explain the rules, which seemed to be never-ending.

Quiet time is between 8 and 10pm in which you will not leave your room. Reading, homework, and other forms of silent self-discovery is aloud.
No running in the halls but skipping is allowed.
No boys alone in the girls dormitory and no girls alone in the boys dormitory.
No use of offensive abilities.
No pets in the cafeteria.
No pets or food in the library.
Breakfast: 7:00-8:00
Lunch: 12:00-1:00
Dinner: 6:00-7:00
During these eating times, students are allowed to eat wherever they please (not in the library, of course.)

And so many more that Roman couldn't remember. The things that interested her the most, however, were the classes.
Students-which she assumed encompassed her now- were allowed to show up to whichever classes they wanted on any day of the week as long as they took at least three per day and could keep their schedules and homework straight.
While Roman appreciated the freedom she was given, it wasn't the program of the classes that bewildered her. It was the classes themselves.
When she had been handed a course sheet to pick from, she had been expecting classes such as english, science, mathematics, etc. Instead, the most normal course she could find was latin.
The courses ranged anywhere and everywhere from self defense classes, witchcraft lessons, and criminology to horse riding, swordsmanship, and even 'The Magical World of Poisons.'
She was so lost she didn't even know where to begin. The words on the page seemed to float around her. She shook her head trying to focus on the classes she knew she would enjoy. Perhaps Latin? Yes, latin could be fun. She placed a check mark next to Latin. Listed under it were options for classical latin, vulgar latin, pig latin, and even pseudo latin. She didn't even know the difference between the four. Her head started to spin and she put the course sheet down on the bedside table next to the clock she had been provided.
7:45. 15 minutes until quiet time. She threw on the shoes and school uniform Amber gave her. She wasn't a fan of the stifle of individuality, but she did appreciate that the two versions of the uniform. The one meant for the boys and the one meant for the girls were nearly the same. She would not have been okay with one of the short skirts she had seen so often in movies. The small crest on the corner of the vest interested her. It was an image of a library in the center of the forest with a light illuminating the word 'Sectretum'.
As much as she would have loved to, she didn't have time to inquire about it. She had to get to Caspian in the next ten minutes or she would have to wait until the morning. Roman closed the door behind her and-hugging the walls- cautiously tip-toed past the other girl's dorms. Once she entered the hallway, she broke out in a sprint to the door labelled "Pueri Dormitorium."
Roman's shoes screeched as they attempted to pull to a failed stop, and she collided with a curly haired boy covered head to toe in freckles. She pulled herself off of him, apologizing profoundly, and offered him her hand. The boy smiled at her and accepted her hand- which she unintentionally dropped when she realized he had horns, sending him tumbling to the floor once again. More apologies.
"You're new here, aren't you?" He asked, rubbing his head.
"I'm so sorry." Roman sidestepped around the boy and reached for the handle. She couldn't miss talking to Caspian. She had to know he was okay. "I'm so so sorry."
She twisted the door handle and blindly turned the corner, leaving her to slam into Caspian and fall on her butt.
