Rocky's P.O.V

"Welcome, greenies, to your very first firearms practice! I am Corporal Smithers, and I will be teaching you how to become one with the weapon you hold! No matter if your most reliable assault gun, small sidearm that keeps you safe, knife in the most desperate of situations, or a grenade that won't bother to harm anything on it's path, i am going to make sure all of you know how to wield with every single one of them! Do you copy?"

"Yes sir!" All of us shouted

"Good! The beginning step of making a soldier useful is to teach them how to not harm themselves in the process. We are starting off with the good ol' reliable: M4A1 carbine. That is the primary weapon you are most likely to use out there, so better learn it and observe it closely! Now, go and grab one for yourself, hop hop!" Corporal ordered

At first, other dogs and I thought of going with all others, until Ryder called us.

"Hey dogs, follow me, I am going to ask the Corporal for your helmets. You surely didn't forget that you cannot hold a gun yourself, did you?" Ryder asked

All of us just stared blankly, until we started following Ryder one by one.

"Greetings, Ryder! Here are the helmets for your brave dogs! Now off you go too, surely dogs can take it from here by themselves." Corporal said.

"Yes sir!" Ryder saluted, then jogged away to others

"Alright, here is a helmet to each of you. My colleague will be showing all the basic stuff for their weapon to them. In the meantime, I am going to teach you a little more about your artificial helmets." Corporal said

"I thought we already got everything clear during our test?" Rubble asked

"Ah yes, that's what everyone would think, but these pieces are artificial. Before I allow you to join back with others for a shooting test, i need to let you know that 4 legged guys like you can only use an assault rifle-like weapon. No secondary weapons, no melee, no grenades. That is a much bigger risk, although the artificial interface and coding of your helmets make up for it! Don't tell this to your human friends, but your helmets let you do stuff easier than them. These helmets are a project that Ryder has financed, so you can all thank him. How'd he know? He didn't, although it didn't take us much time to convert them into a helmet for warfare. That being said, all of you have safety measures installed into your helmets. Helmets will automatically detect allies and will not fire at any cost, if the aim is directly onto them that is. I just wanted to let you know that. The rest, you already know from your training. My colleagues will place the ammo backpacks onto your backs, link them with the helmet, and you're ready to roll!"

Just as Corporal said it, really fast people have already done it all, we barely even noticed! We gasped in surprise while trying to look at our backpacks. If only it was actually easy to look at your own back.

"You should now regroup with your human friends! Off you go." Corporal ordered

Rest of my team have wondered into random directions. I was curious to know where Ryder is-

Chase just appeared next to me, both of us awkwardly looking at each other.

"Looking for Ryder too?" He asked

"Eh, yeah." I answered

"Let's get going then." He said

It did not take us much to find Ryder, he held something in his hands.

"Oh hey Chase, Rocky!" Ryder greeted us

"Hello Ryder sir! What are you holding?" Chase asked

"I already got all the basics for the main gun, now I am just making sure I know the basics for this pistol too. Pistol is a sidearm." Ryder said
