~ WISH LIST ~
I will accept your ongoing story: As long as you have written at least 40,000 words and it is posted on your profile.
I have to be firm on my word count this year: If your story is complete, it needs to be under 100,000 words. If your story is ongoing and you expect it to stay under 100,000 words, I will consider it. My sweet spot this year is 40,000 - 80,000 ongoing or complete.
I read all age categories: From middle grade to adult
This year I'm craving fantasy: I need your paranormal, supernatural, mythology, speculative fiction, steampunk. Pretty much any subgenre of fantasy.
I've been reading these authors lately: Sarah J Maas, Holly Black, Leigh Bardugo, V.E. Schwab
My romance tastes are in flux: To be specific, the romance I'm currently reading needs to be part of another main genre (see below for other genres I like to read).
💖 My current romance preferences 💖
I like my romance to be mixed with another main genre (i.e. fantasy, sci-fi, action).
Give me a suspenseful thriller with a sexy couple and I'm all over that.
Mature stories? Monstrous love? Bring 'em on.
Other genres that I like to read (w/ or w/out romance): I need action, adventure, suspense or thrills in the stories I read. I'm partial to steampunk, historical fiction, sci-fi, and mystery.
I tend to shy away from dystopian or apocalyptic stories, but I will consider such a story if it's not too depressing.
I will read chicklit as long as there is humor (no romance necessary). In fact, humor is something I look for in all the stories I read.
Regardless of genre, I enjoy reading female protagonists who have already found their strength and use it throughout the story. I don't mean perfect. They should still learn something in the process. I'm not a big fan of victims who constantly need to be rescued.
Diverse stories: I enjoy reading stories with LGBTQ themes, as well as stories in which the MC has culturally or physically different experiences from my own. However, please, bear in mind that I will not be able to provide feedback on these themes from a lived experience.
POV preferences: I enjoy reading in first person and third person. I am also fine with multiple POVs. But I do not like to read first person stories in multiple POVs.
NOT ON MY WISH LIST
I am not a fan of stories that focus on teens in high school with jocks and mean girls who bully the less coordinated. Been there, done that.
I don't usually enjoy predictable tropes where the entire plot centers around the emotional ups and downs between a couple. My two exceptions are strongly character-driven stories and humor.
I do not read scary or overly gory stories. No horror or intensely violent stories, please. A battle scene here and there is fine.
I do not read real world fanfiction. To be specific, I would not be a good mentor for fanfiction focused on boy bands, celebrities, or characters from another published work. I'm okay with gods, archangels and historical figures.
