TRAINING WHEELS
DRACO'S SIXTEENTH068
The exam period had finally rolled around, or rather their first exam was now in five days, but rather than revising, Amora had different plans. She woke earlier than usual, which was difficult considering how much she liked to lay in, and made her way down to the kitchens. Luckily, they weren't far away at all from the Hufflepuff dorms.
She pushed the door open, surprised by the sudden noise that filled her ears. House-elves were rushing around everywhere, preparing the food and drink for breakfast which would start soon. Pots and pans were crashing about, their little legs rushing about to get things made in time for all of the students.
"Hello!"
Amora jumped when one of them Apparated right beside her, making her heart skip a beat. She held her hand over her chest, managing a smile at the House-elf that was looking up at her.
"Hi, there," Amora breathed, "I - I was wondering if I could ask you to make something for me? I would be more than happy to repay you with whatever -"
"No repaying, miss!" The House-elf jumped, shaking his head quickly. "Gorby is repaid with satisfaction of helping! Please, miss - Gorby and the other House-elves would love to make miss something!"
Amora was slightly shocked. She really didn't think that they were going to say yes, but she thought it was worth a shot anyway. Quickly, she told Gorby what she wanted and thanked her the best she could before hurrying off back to her dormitory to get ready for the day.
The common room was not empty when she arrived. Sitting in his uniform, his hair styled in his usual curtain bangs, Leon actually looked normal despite the dark circles that still hung beneath his eyes. She supposed it had been a good couple of months now since he'd returned, and she was bound to run into him alone at some point. He was already looking at her.
She was dressed in the silk pyjama set that Pansy had gifted her for Christmas, her hair in loose plaits that were slightly frazzled from being slept in. He scanned her up and down, his hands gripping the sides of the armchair tighter.
"Back from the Slytherin dorms, hm?" Leon said - there was nothing behind his tone at all. It was empty.
"No," Amora huffed, "I had to run a quick errand, if you must know."
She continued on to her dorm.
"I'm sorry," he suddenly whimpered, causing her to freeze in her tracks. "Amora, it's a year today since I lost you. I - There's something wrong with me. I ruined everything."
Her heart ached, her hands turning to fists as if to keep her grounded. "Leon, don't," Amora warned, "I know your game."
"What game? What game could I possibly be playing right now?" Leon jumped from the couch and Amora could see he was actually crying. "I've lost everything, Amora. You, Kathy, my dad..."
Maybe a year ago she would have taken him back, but right now all she could think about was all of the awful things he had done to her. How he'd gotten her kicked out of the DA, caused all of their friends to turn on her, snapped her wand, slipped her Veritaserum... There was most likely more she could add to that list.
"Leon, when you made me lose everything - do you know what I did?" Amora said calmly, staring down at his distressed figure. "I moved on. I'd appreciate it if you did the same thing."
And it seemed like Leon had nothing left to say, because he let her go without another word.
Amora rushed to shower and get changed into her school uniform, taking a little more time than usual on her hair and adding some makeup. When she emerged from the bathroom, the other girls were already getting up and getting dressed themselves. She sent a pursed-lipped smile to Kathy, reached under her bed to grab her bag and rushed for the Slytherin dungeons.
