Once upon a time, there was a queen that gave birth to a little girl. To celebrate the king threw a big party and invited all the fairies in the kingdom, all but one.

The day of the celebration came and everyone was happy. The fairies gave the young princess gifts such as beauty and wisdom, the king and queen thanked them greatly.

Suddenly the door slammed open and the thirteenth fairy stormed in, the one who hadn't been invited. She spoke loudly "On her eighteenth birthday she will prick her finger on a spindle and fall to the floor dead!" then she disappeared as quickly as she had shown up.

Chaos broke out and the king and queen were miserable. One of the fairies came forward and even though she couldn't break the curse she made sure that the princess would sleep one hundred years before dying and if someone came to the castle and kissed her she would wake up, that was the best they could do.

The princess grew up and the king and queen made sure to throw every spindle out of the kingdom, everything to try and stop the curse.

When the princess's eighteenth birthday came the king and queen were worried but they invited every man who they thought was worthy of their daughter, but she didn't want any of them how nice or rich they were because she loved women, not men. She wasn't brave enough to tell anyone, afraid of being judged but she wrote all of her feeling down in her diary.

She didn't go downstairs because she didn't want her parents to introduce her to man after man until she agreed to marry one of them. Instead, she walked up to her bedroom in one of the towers just to be alone, but there in the dark circular room sat an old lady using a spindle. She didn't talk to the stranger, she just felt drawn to touch the spindle, and slowly she pricked her finger on the needle. The tiredness came over her like a warm blanket and she laid down on her bed. Through half-closed eyes, she saw the old lady transform into the thirteenth fairy.

The princess fell asleep and so did the rest of the castle, the king and queen, all of the suitors, and all of the staff. The people in the kingdom heard the story about the sleeping beauty but no one was brave enough to save her. Treasure hunters broke into the castle to steal the riches but no one kissed the princess. Thorn roses started to grow around high around the castle walls and the princes who tried their way in failed miserably, they were too late.

The story about the sleeping princess soon became a legend and the roses around the castle were too thick to see throw. The people forgot about its existence.

Ninety-seven years later in a glade deep into the forest, a girl found an old book, but it wasn't just any book it was the princess's old diary. The girl started reading and found herself in the words on the paper. She fell in love with the author and decided to found her before the time had run out.

At the same time, the son of a knight heard the story from his grandmother and he believed it. He was rich and arrogant raised to follow in his father's footsteps. The same day he saddled his horse and went to find the castle.

Late at night, the boy saw a light in the wood. He moved closer and saw the girl sitting by a fire. He introduced himself and told her about his missen. He thought that she would be impressed and thin that he was brave but instead she just laughed him right in the face.

"The princess won't love you, she's a lesbian," she said and the boy wouldn't believe her. They made a deal, they would found the castle together but the first one to get in and kiss the princess got to marry her. The girl was determined to win because if not the princess would have to marry someone she wouldn't be able to love. But little did he know that the girl had a secret, she had the diary so she knew in which of the towers the princesses were sleeping in.

Early the next morning the two rode alongside to the castle covered in thorn roses which were easy to find when you knew where to look. The boy was foolish and tried to cur the branches with his sword but to no use against the thick branches. The girl on the other side founded holes and thinner branches that she could cut off using her knife. She got to the big oak-doors first although she could hear the boy following her path. She opened the door met a ton of sleeping people in the entry. She saw the staircases that led up to the towers, she chose the left one and saw the boy taking the right, their eyes met for just a second. When she reached the tower room she saw the spindle and on the bed, the princess was sleeping. When people called her the sleeping beauty they didn't lie. The princess's golden hair formed a halo around her face and her chest was slowly moving up and down. In comparison to the girl's thin body, the princess was well-fed, but she was still the most beautiful person the girl had ever spotted.

She slowly walked forward, took off her filthy coat, and leaned down. Her lips slowly met the princesses and when she opened her eyes the princesses blue gaze met hers.

The girl pulled back but the princess reached out her hand and kissed the girl again.

"How did you know?" she whispered and the girl told her about the diary, the boy who still was searching for her, and about the ninety-seven that had passed. Together hand in hand they walked out of the tower and back down to the ballroom who now was a puff of people they had woken up. In the middle of the room, the boy was standing, defeated.

The king and queen were shocked when they saw the princess placing a kiss on the girl's lips, but they were grateful that someone finally had broken the curse.

Just because of her sex the princess had been judged, laughed at, and underrated. But she didn't let them bring her down so now she was the one kissing the princess by the altar.

She had become the hero.
