In an Alternate Reality III

P:3 Ch:11

Bertholdt, who was in a barrel, got launched by the Beast Titan. As he flew, he scouted the area out.

"The ground's pretty close. It's now or never. I'll blow this whole place to hell!" Bertholdt thought. He then saw Reiner's destroyed Armored Titan and saw Eren standing over him.

"At the state Reiner's in, he'll die in the blast, but he obviously won't do it...." Eren thought. He then began to remember something that completely slipped out of his thoughts.

"Shit...My Titan is completely useless against the Colossal. The same goes for my human form. I can withstand the heat and pressure he emits in both Human and Titan form, but ODM gear won't work. I won't be able to get close to him. I need to exhaust him or catch him off guard."

Eren then looked back at the unconscious Reiner.

"I'll deal with you later. I need to regroup with everyone else. I'll stay in Titan form for now." Eren thought then ran toward everybody else.

Bertholdt saw Eren retreat and decide to go check on Reiner.

"You got off easy. What is Eren thinking? He could've killed you at any time, but why didn't he? Damn it! What is he planning?"

Eren made his way to where everyone else was at. Everyone was running thinking that Bertholdt was going to blow the place into smithereens. They then saw Bertholdt coming their way.

"Hey, look! Someone's coming our way! It's Bertholdt!" Moblit yelled.

"The plan is as follows: Armin, you take command of Levi Squad. Everyone else, come with me we have two targets to eliminate." Hanji ordered.

Hanji and the others left leaving the Levi Squad and Eren. Armin had other plans, he wanted to negotiate.

"Stop, Bertholdt! Just wait a minute!"

Armin took a deep breath and shouted.

"We don't have to fight! Let's talk this over!"

"If I agree to talk, would you all be willing to lay down and die? We only want two simple things. Eren Jaeger and the death of everyone in the walls! That's the harsh truth of our situation. Understand?" Bertholdt shouted back.

"What!? And who is it that decided that?"

"It was me, Armin! I decided that your lives should end here and now!"

"That's a real shame, Bertholdt! I was hoping I could finally stop hearing Annie scream!"

Bertholdt eyes widened.

"There's only one person who could save her from the savages at the Military Police and that's you! If you don't, she'll be fed to the pigs!"

"Fine by me! Let them feed Annie to the pigs! If they actually have her that is!" Bertholdt shouted then shot a hook at a building. Armin and Mikasa chased after him.'

They both landed on a building and Bertholdt drew his blade.

"What's the rush, Armin? Didn't you want to talk? Bet you thought by bringing up Annie, you could make me lose my cool. You thought I was still the timid fool you once knew and that you could trick me into letting my guard down. I know what this is. You're just buying time, aren't you? Half of your comrades are surrounding me while I'm distracted the rest will go and finish Reiner. I can tell I'm right. Look at the way you're shaking. You're scared out of your mind, aren't you?"

Armin felt someone's hand on his shoulder. He looked at Bertholdt who's eyes were now widened. Armin looked over his shoulder and saw Eren.

"Look who's talking." Eren said then walked in front of Armin.

"Look at yourself; you're shaking. I pretty sure Annie has other men in mind than some long, lanky bastard like you."

Hearing that irritated Bertholdt and it was showing.

"Seems like I hit a nerve there."

Armin caught on to what Eren was doing. He was distracting him, and it was working. Eren was completely inside Bertholdt's head plus, he was scared of him.

Without even realizing, Mikasa came from behind and drove a blade into Bertholdt's torso. He began to cough up blood and a waterfall of blood began to stream down the hole in Bertholdt's chest.

Mikasa swung her other blade at Bertholdt, but he moved his head and it sliced off his ear. Eren then came running at Bertholdt and punched the left side of his ribs. Eren backed away and spun around and kicked Bertholdt right in the face which made him fly off the building they were on.

Bertholdt was sent spinning off the building. He managed to get a hold of himself and used his ODM gear to get away from them. Mikasa landed on the building with Eren and Armin.

"Nobody chase after him. You'll get caught in it." Eren told his squad.

On the other hand, Hanji's Squad began to chase after him. Bertholdt grappled onto a building and flew off high above everyone else.

"We need to get out of here!" Hanji shouted.

A giant bright yellow orb appeared in the sky. Then, came silence until a massive explosion set off causing a shockwave. The wind blew by and began to knock everyone over. Eren decided to turn back into a Titan to help everyone. They latched on to Eren's Titan and Eren took them farther away behind a building where the wind wasn't as fierce.

They all caught a peek at the mushroom cloud that formed at the center of Shinganshina. After some time, everything began to settle down.

"Are you guys alright?" Jean asked.

"Hell if I know. Are you?" Connie asked Sasha.

"I'm fine; hanging in there."

"Where's Hanji's squad?" Jean questioned.

"They were right underneath the blast zone" Armin stated with a saddened undertone.

"Are you saying that.... The only ones who survived were...The six of us?" Jean said shocked.

The Colossal Titan was surrounded in the burning debris of the houses in Shinganshina. The God of Destruction has appeared this fight won't be easy for the Squad. 

Sacrifices will be made.
