Flynn's POV
I wedged the wire through the keyhole and wiggled it a few times. I heard a click and the door popped open. A loud blaring filled my ears. I grumbled.
"We have thirty seconds, boys, let's hurry up."
I ran into the house and up the stairs. I slid into the master bedroom and opened the jewelry box. Sparkling gems and gleaming gold stared back at me. Jackpot.
I shoved the jewels into my satchel and ran into the next room. It was a simple baby nursery, nothing special.
I figured I had enough.
I darted back down the stairs and found Quinn and Jack waiting for me at the door. Quinn had car keys and Jack had a few iPods.
"Don't stand there like a sack of potatoes! Somebody is going to notice." I said as I darted out the door. Quinn and Jack followed behind me.
We got in the sports car parked in the garage and sped away. Neighbors stopped and stared at us. I hope they weren't smart enough to call the cops.
We were the most wanted in the city for chain robberies. I'm so used to them, they don't seem wrong to me anymore. This world is no different from the worlds before us, finders keepers.
I heard police sirens blaring from behind us. Two police cars were following behind us. I grumbled.
"Turn down this side road." I said to Quinn, who was driving.
We pulled down an empty street with numerous other turns. I knew this city like the back of my hand. There was a hidden road up ahead and the police won't be able to track us there.
They were still onto us. I couldn't get caught. Not again. I had done time a few years ago and it was horrible, and it was only a few months. I would have to spend so much more time if I went back.
We turned a corner and the police car was temporarily gone, but we couldn't drive forever. I had my share of loot and Quinn and Jack could do ok without me.
"I'll see you later, boys." I said as I popped the door open. They looked at each other, confused, as I rolled out of the car.
I heard them screaming and they almost stopped the car when I ran deeper into the forest. I was better off here than with them.
I had gotten stranded in the forest numerous times before, my dad was a mindless drunk and my mom died during child birth. I took shelter in the woods during the summer. My house was never a safe place. I was bullied in school and didn't have any friends. I had learned to survive on my own when I was seven, fifteen years later the skills stayed with me.
I tripped over a log and I heard a twig snap behind me.
I rolled over soundlessly and shielded myself with the log. I heard a dog sniffing and tried to cover my self with the scent of the leaves.
It turned around and ran back to its owner. I took a sigh of relief, got up, and kept running. The deeper the better. I finally stopped to catch my breath and I looked around. I didn't recognize this part of the forest, and I know the forest.
I started roaming around aimlessly. I came across a small dirt road and followed it into a large clearing.
A small pond sat in the center of the clearing, a house sat behind it. It was very tall, probably eighty feet high, but small in terms of square feet.
I walked around the lake and up to the door, I turned the handle but it was locked. I looked for a keyhole but all I could find was a small card slot. That was strange.
