When I was twelve years old my home was invaded by the Evil Queen. I now live
far away from Wonderland because she cursed it and all of the portals were sealed.
Before they were sealed however I managed to escape along with Maddeline Hatter,
Kitty Chershire, the Mad Hatter, Lizzie Hearts, and Mrs. Her Majesty the White Queen.
That was four years ago. Now we live in Ever After. Lizzie, Kitty, the White Queen and I
all live at Ever After High, the school where the children of fairy tale characters learn
how to follow their preassigned destinies just as their parents had done. Maddie and her
dad live in their wondrous teashop in the town of Book End, a short walk away from the
school. During the summers Kitty, Lizzie, and I shared a dorm room, but since the
school year was starting we were going to be assigned new ones.
“Are you Diana Duchess?” A fairy godmother in training appeared before me in a
poof of blue smoke with a piece of parchment in hand. “Yes I am, thank you.” I replied
graciously while taking the parchment. At the top of the parchment it read “Diana
Duchess: Room 328 with Darling Charming.” Darling was a fairy tale princess destined
to be a damsel in distress. “Classes: Damsel in Distressing,” Seriously? I’m not
supposed to be a damsel in distress. Eh, whatever after. “MannersPrincessology,
Museic, and Storytelling 101.” Overall my schedule didn’t look too bad and many of my
classes I had with Lizzie. My schedule also left time for extra croquet practice. Lizzie is
the captain of the team, but I am her number two.
“Off with your head!” Lizzie appeared next to me suddenly. As the daughter of the
Queen of Hearts she was often saying such things, in fact in Wonderland “Off with your
head!” could have many different meanings. This time it meant hi. “What did you get for
your classes? I’ve got pretty much everything you have except I also have General
Villanry. My mother may be mad but she isn’t very evil.” she shook her head. “We’re all
mad here, your highness.” I said with a smile. She let out a small chuckle. “You are right
of course, Diana.”
Over Lizzie’s right shoulder appeared a broad smile. Kitty Cheshire, daughter of
the Cheshire Cat, materialized behind her. “Boo!” Kitty shrieked, but Lizzie was
unimpressed. “Honestly Kitty, if you want to scare me you are going to have to do better
than that.”  I watched my friends bicker with mild interest. Kitty was always getting Lizzie
mad, anger that is, none of us needed any help in that category.
Lizzie was a short, slight girl with long, dark black hair with red streaks that part
of it was pinned up in a heart shaped bun atop her head. Just by looking at her you
could tell she was the Princess of Wonderland. From her heart shaped makeup over
one eye to her red, black, and gold colored outfit she was dressed to impress. Kitty on
the other hand was dressed more modestly with her waist length lavender curls pulled
up into pigtails with a cat ear shaped head band. Her outfit consisted of a black skirt and
simple blouse.
“Do either of you know where Maddie is?” Kitty asked suddenly. “I think she is still
at the teashop. Speaking of which it is tea time, let's go.” I lead the way to the teashop
happy and carefree, excited for the new school year.
