Word Count: 1825TW: Alcohol (not abuse or anything, just, drinking.)
"I dunno." Wilbur shrugged. "You like her?"
I scoffed, averting my eyes and tucking my knees closer to my chest. "No."
"You were totally lying."
"Maybe I was." I took a sip of my drink, looking back to (Y/N) for a moment.
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
"You go play with them, I swear they have endless energy." I panted, sitting down next to Niki again.
Niki laughed, before standing up. "Alright then, wish me luck."
"Be careful, watch out for a football to your head!"
"I will!" Niki called behind herself, before reaching Tommy and Tubbo, who already dragged Phil (because they said old men need exercise), to the field.
I sighed slightly to myself as I opened my bag to take out my water bottle, taking a sip from it. My eyes followed Niki while she kicked a ball across the field. "Now you're staring too!" I heard Wilbur groan in exasperation.
"Staring? I- I guess I am, but too?!" I laughed, "But no I'm just- look...ing?"
"You're totally staring."
"I'm flipping not!"
"Really now?" Wilbur laughed. "I'm not convinced."
"What even is the definition of staring?"
Before I even finished the sentence, Wilbur pulled out his phone. "Google says 'look fixedly or vacantly at someone or something with one's eyes wide open.'"
"Then I would argue that I wasn't staring." I hmphed, "That did not describe the gaze I used to look at her."
"Whatever you say."
"You still didn't answer my 'too' question." I sighed in exasperation.
"Too? Oh I said that you were staring too, didn't I?" He laughed awkwardly, "Well I mean, you weren't the only person staring at a football playing girl.
"Who else then?" I asked,
"... Niki."
"What."
"Still, I would say that you were staring."
"I was not."
The man just shrugged, an amused smile played on his lips.
The next day
"Good morning." I heard Niki walk into the shop, and I looked up with a smile.
"Niki! Good morning!"
"Hello, how are you this morning?"
"Good good, how about you?"
"I'm good too." She paused, "just a bit tired from just... being outdoors, y'know?"
"Understandable." I smiled, looking down to the ipad in my hands. "Here you go, I set it up, since I arrived early."
"Thank you." She nodded a bit in a thanks.
"Of course." I smiled.
Niki tapped her fingers across the iPad for a moment, almost anxious. My eyes darted from her fingers to her face, curious. "You alright?"
"Hm?" The tapping stopped, and she blinked, looking into my eyes. "Oh nothing."
"I'm sure it's something." My eyes went back to my hands as I wiped the table.
